South Carolina: Sanford Poised for Comeback in GOP Runoff
Roll Call ^ | April 2 , 2013

Posted on 04/02/2013 2:47:32 PM PDT by SMGFan

For a candidate known for one of the past decade’s most colossal political mistakes, former Gov. Mark Sanford has run a nearly flawless campaign for the 1st District.

As a result, Sanford is on track to win the Republican runoff and maintains a solid position in the special election for the coastal, GOP-leaning district.

On Tuesday, voters will determine whether Sanford can proceed with his political comeback over his GOP opponent, attorney Curtis Bostic. Palmetto State Republicans are confident Sanford will win the GOP nomination and continue to face Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch in the May 7 general election.

Here’s the thing...up until the walk in the Appalachian Trail episode, you could not find a single thing wrong with the guy. He didn’t have any corruption deals. He didn’t fall into some bribe situation. You’d say all the way up to the trail episode that he was going to run for President one day and win.

Personally, I’m at a point of overlooking the Appalachian episode. He’s bright at debate, and capable of taking on almost any Democrat.

Besides, with his morals, he can win the votes of all the philanderers and deadbeat dads in the country. Let the Dems have the gays - the GOP can take the hetero libertines! Go, South Carolina!

In his press conference after his “Appalachian” adventure, he came across as one of the most pathetic, self-absorbed flakes I’ve ever seen. Made my skin crawl.

I’d never give him my vote. But, I guess he fits in with the new, values-free Republican Party that is so anxious to cozy up to fag marriage. Every day a new indication I have no Party representing me.

The guys is mentally unstable and unsuited for governance, he disappeared and left the country, leaving the state rudderless and his security people in the dark and a panic ensued, the Lt. Governor, not even his wife knew what had happened to him, and they found his car abandoned, there was chaos and confusion at the high levels of his state.

It was when the search started for the Governor during a time of terrorism and war, that he sneaked back into the country, seeming to think that he was just like a teen who sneaked out for a nighttime adventure.

This guy is not playing with a full deck and does not have a full grasp on reality.

You’ve always showed disdain for him. I support him and hope he wins.

Do you even live here? You obviously believe what the media said about him. We didn’t panic. Yes he left but some people did know how to reach him, he was set up by the weenie Lt. Governor and I’ve always believed his smarmy wife knew what he was up to.

Please tell me you are kidding. What vow does someone have to break in order for you to not trust them anymore?

You bought into the lies, his campaign manager did not know where he was, like he first claimed when trying to cover for him, nobody knew, not even head of his security, it was a very serious act that this nut case did.

Hell, let me stir the pot. THEY WHO WALK ON WATER will be along shortly to tell us that sexual peccadilloes of conservatives are far worse than gun-grabbers, abortionists and commie mass murderers, and we should all stay home, not vote and let some leftist democrat Nazi slip in as a representative. After all, living large and smugly like a fat-ass Philistine in a glass house is the ultimate way to praise the Lord and advance the cause of liberty.

I am with you. I will also add this is a guy who slept in his office and used the showers in the House Gym. He was part of the idealistic 94 GOP Freshman class. The guy was even looked at for a run at the presidency.. The the entire Mistress thing hit and the rest is history. The only apprehension is I am not sure he really learned his lesson...

What if there was a big disaster in SC while he was on the “Appalachian Trail” with Mamacita?

This election is happening in a socially conservative South Carolina district. It goes to show you that, when it comes to politics, being a skilled politician is more important than "values" any day of the week.

I do believe that that is why states have Lieutenant Governors. ;-)
