The term came from fundamentalist preachers who would thump the pulpit when making a point. The thump got the attention of the congregation because, especially in the days before electronic sound systems, the sound pierced the chatter of people talking during the message.
When I preach, the thump happens naturally. I don’t realize i do it until I go back to the recording and hear it for myself.

Rush mentioned it the other day. He stated he is beginning to feel that since it is a religious sacriment, the government should have no say in it, one way or the other.
I arrived at this position a few years ago.

Bible thumper did not used to be a derogatory term. Then again, neither did Christian. It used to denote passion for one’s beliefs.
I don’t know how Dennis Miller puts up w/him while on their tours. BOR is just obnoxious.
And speaking of their tour (though I probably wouldn’t go) they were supposed to visit the Burgh this spring or summer. What gives...we were dissed again:(

I think Rush is right about Obamacare, in fact, I made this prediction in the context of the 2014 race. The dems want a way out of this before 2014, the question is should the GOP bail them out. Why the GOP is not running ads every night reminding the voter who is responsible for this mess is beyond me.
