Utter betrayal by congress; in the event that the Obama government attempts to enforce any UN ban on firearms, or any UN regulations whatsoever, there will be considerable dissent by the American people.
Not to overstate the case, but this could be an enormous problem which leads to very great friction in the United States.
NO UN treaty could be considered to override the Bill of Rights; should the Obama administration attempt to nullify ANY clause of the Bill of Rights by stealth or fiat, it will generate thorny legal problems, not to mention considerable citizen dissatisfaction and dissent.

Supporters of the pact say it doesn't really threaten our Second Amendment rights, regulates only international arms trade, and won't be ratified anyway. If that were true, they wouldn't be bothering with it.

No shock that Obama does what Obama does. What I cannot wrap my head around is the nearly complete lack of blowback by GOP pols at every level.
Leaders should lead. Where are the GOP governors telling the Dems outright their states will not comply? Where are the more local GOP people? They can all damn well get a hold of each other when funding is at issue.
Where is the threatened shutdown of govt?
I guess they really are Democrats themselves.
