h/t to FReeper Winstons Julia

The slide deck is here. The slide in question:

The accompanying narrative with that slide states:

Extremism is a complex phenomenon; it is defined as beliefs, attitudes, feelings, actions, or strategies of a character far removed from the "ordinary." Because "ordinary" is subjective, no religious group would label itself extreme or its doctrine "extremism." However, religious extremism is not limited to any single religion, ethnic group, or region of the world; every religion has some followers that believe their beliefs, customes and traditions are the only "right way" and that all others are practicing their faith the "wrong way," seeing and believing that their faith/religion superior to all others.

The Archdiocese of the Military Services had the following press release:

The Archdiocese for the Military Services and Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty recently became aware of a U.S. Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief that expressly listed “Catholicism,” “Evangelical Christianity” and other religious groups as examples of “religious extremism” alongside groups such as “Al Qaeda”, “Hamas” and the “KKK.”

The Archdiocese is astounded that Catholics were listed alongside groups that are, by their very mission and nature, violent and extremist.

According to an investigation and reply from the Army Chief of Chaplains office, the training in question appears to have been an isolated incident not condoned by the Department of the Army. The Archdiocese and the Chaplain Alliance explained that the Army can and should take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.

The Archdiocese calls upon the Department of Defense to review these materials and to ensure that tax-payer funds are never again used to present blatantly anti-religious material to the men and women in uniform.

The Obama Admin continues to nudge. Remember the 2009 Right Wing Extremism report put out by DHS? When that got exposed, they retracted that one, as well (it was "unauthorized").

It’s actually good for the Body of Christ when the government turns against them.

Mark, I just went through the entire presentation.

The overwhelming majority of the presentation is anti-white/Christian; the inclusion of any non-white/non-Christian group is either an afterthought, or smoke to give the impression of “balance”.

It’s as if all the presenter did was download SPLC’s hard drives.

What this means is:

“These are the folks who might fight back, when they realize the regime is trying to destroy America’s Freedoms”

Relax FReepers, you’ve been the list for a long time already.

Curious that they don’t list Shia Islam and Hezbollah along with Sunni Islam and Hamas.

It would be enlightening to see a picture and be given the name of the individual creating and presenting the subject “information” piece.

Maybe it's payback for the Catholic Church not coming on board to support the Obama administration's gay agenda. This could be preparation for barring anyone from serving as a military chaplain who doesn't approve of same-sex marriage and the rest of the agenda.

Since when is Islamophobia a religion? It's PC term to demean anyone who doesn't agree with the officially-approved opinions about Islam.

Why is the Muslim Brotherhood on the list? I though Obama liked the Muslim Brotherhood.

Liberal elites are becoming frantic.

They know the jig's just about up.... Too many people have caught on to who and what they really are... It's like before 'global warming' started to crash and burn - they started putting out more and more frantic warnings. Each more bizarre than the one before... and that's what's happening here.

Liberal elites are losing their grip on culture lies and they're starting to panic.

Then there’s Director of Terrorism Studies at the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy Arie Perliger’s “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” In it he includes pro-life Americans as terrorists and cites the SPLC as credible authorities.

That’s quite a bit more than a “slide”.

Sounds like liberalism. The basic premise here is that extremists are people that think they are right and everyone else is wrong. almost all religions and political groups meet this definition. Therefore virtually all people on the planet are extremists by this definition

So, according to the slide deck, soldiers cannot be Christians of any kind including Catholics because they are forbidden from participating, fund raising, etc. with “extremist organizations”.

Jesus's first words as he appears to the apostles in the Gospel this weekend. "Peace be with you."

What would Jesus be saying to these people? I know he would be fighting with words rather than swords, but we always need to remember that Christ won in the end -- even though it looked like he lost as he died on the Cross.

Headline definitely one to raise the most ‘fear’.

First line says it was from a ‘Reserve Unit Briefing’, kind of like the local ‘R’ dogcatcher agreeing with ‘Global warming’ and the headline reads “Republicans accept Global Warming”.

Would expect to find this in the Washington Post rather than Washington Times.

This is what happens when you give a demoKKKrat president 8 years to reshape our governmnt and/or military to his own liking. Anybody who was too righteous or too holy to vote for Mitt Romney should take note.....
