I think this would make him 101st Airmobile, as it’s based at Fort Campbell.

Perhaps someone more learned than I could double check, but the 506th Infantry Regiment (White Currahee) appears to be the decedent of World War II’s 506th PIR, of Band of Brothers fame.

I’d love to be wrong about this.

you’re right. the were deactivated after WW2.
then became part of 2nd ID (Korea)

Then came back into the 101st in the recent decade.

I hope this is another World Nut Daily rumor.
