In Washington state you have to have a background check done before they allow you to join the gun show organization - so everyone at the gun show has been checked out first. So even a private sale at the show is covered.

There are local internet sales that do not require a background check, although many sellers state that they want to see a “peek” at your concealed carry permit, and others want your name and address for personal record keeping.

The ACLU isn’t for gun control?

The bill proposed has plenty of trojan horses in it for our side, and takes about 20 steps toward restoring our rights for a very small one backward.

sorry mark, but i think we mustve read different bills...admittedly Im no *Constitutional* lawyer, but the 'traps' i saw as I skimmed it, looked like nooses to hang us all eventually...

*law* against a registry is the strong point of this ??? we got that *concession* in the 86' 'make full auto weapons unnaffordable' act...

That is what one (Dem) party rule gets us.

Maryland's already-strong gun laws will become among the strictest in the nation with a measure passed by the General Assembly Thursday, sending the bill to the Democratic governor who proposed the legislation in the aftermath of December's massacre at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school
.... The measure would require people who buy a handgun to submit fingerprints to state police, bans 45 types of assault weapons, and limits gun magazines to 10 bullets. It also addresses firearms access for the mentally ill
.... Maryland will become the first state in nearly 20 years to require potential handgun buyers to submit fingerprints to state police. Only five other states have a similar requirement: Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. ....
Critics noted that Maryland already has strong laws, including universal background checks and a seven-day waiting period to buy a gun. The state doesn't even have a loophole allowing for private sales at gun shows without the same background check that licensed dealers are required to obtain, said Sen. Allan Kittleman, R-Howard
Maryland lawmakers pass tough gun control bill (Fox News 4/5/2013)/

The more I look at the details, the more I believe that you are correct. I think I was mixing the Coburn amendment with the Toohey-Manchin one. The Coburn ideas are much better.

i truly believe that we are being purposely overwhelmed with *ideas* and that the eventual passage of a piece of paper [actually hundreds of pre-written pages] in a whirlwind fashion, will be just another mechanism for every level of LEO/judicial apparatus to ensnare us on some *law*...

every new *law* is open to abuse and interpretaton at our expense, at every level, while doing nothing to protect the 2A and our sovereignty...

the only Law that really matters, or wording that is beneficial to us, needs to be plain and simple...something like 'shall NOT be infringed'...but even that is and continues to be bastardized by *lawyers*...

Where can I learn more about the benefits in the bill?
