It was remarkably easy to implement a form of martial law for that area.

Imagine 50 cities locked down [’shelter in place’] all at once.

From the messages getting out, everyone is happy to be trapped in their homes.

This is surrealistic...and sobering.

Especially since the right answer would be the exact opposite of what the authorities demanded - armed posses of citizens should be patrolling their own neighborhoods right now looking for this guy.

How far would he have gotten in the Boston of 100 years ago?
