Because it was pure, from a Dr.

Street meth has unknown quantities of impurities and changes form when ignited to vapor for inhalation.

Or so I hear.

I always thought that was about Valium or Librium, but Dexies makes more sense.

I believe meth in its earliest form was developed by the nazis.

It was first synthesized by the Japanese prior to WWII. They thought it was perfect for front line troops and factory workers as you could keep going and going with little or no rest and minimum food. It wasn't until test subjects started crashing in a spectacular manner that it became obvious that meth did not create "super-humans" out of mortal flesh.

They may have cut the nazis in on their research, I don't know for sure. The Germans were more about "genetic purity" to arrive at "supermen" and I kinda doubt that chemical enhancement (with inevitable spectacular crashes) would have been allowed.

GtG

These were passed off as B-12 injections. They were “the thing” for the hoity toity of the Hollywood set. It was not a big secret after the 1970s.

Is this the guy that inspired the song, “Dr. Feelgood,” by Motley Crue?

Nah, I think it was about Nikki Sixx's drug dealer. He talks about him a bit in the Heroin Diaries. One of Sixx's handlers threatened to off the guy if he ever saw him around Nikki again. Good book, suprised Nikki is still alive.

Just an odd bit of presidential history

Silent Cal was the man! We need more like him today. What we need to do is instead of electing "lawmakers" we start electing "un-lawmakers". They would pledge that for every law passed 2 would be repealed. Then maybe, just maybe, we could get this leviathan government back to manageable size! I actually heard someone say the other day that we need a law to force enforcement of another law. Laws on top of laws! OMG we have lost our collective minds.

Pray for America

Unfortunately, back in the 50’s and 60’s methamphetamine was commonly prescribed by doctors for such things as weight control, fatigue, or depression.

Methamphetamine is an amphetamine, but not all amphetamines are Meth. Methylphenidate, brand name Ritalin, is an amphetamine-like central nervous system stimulant used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. Ritalin used to be all over the street, known as "white crosses" or "baby zips". Black Cadillacs, green & clears, brown & whites, and many many more pharmaceutical amphetamines were in regular street traffic until the biker gangs started brewing up "crank" which turned out to be addictive and deadly. By contrast pharmaceutical amphetamines were party favors, served up in a candy dish (Life in the fast lane, surely makes you loose your mind! Life in the fast lane, feeling good all the time)...

Or so I'm told...

GtG

Remember when the press was a good ol’ boys club and covered for the Pres?

Washington Post Editor Ben Bradlee (originally from MA) practically lived at the WH during the Kennedy years.

Barry Goldwater’s daughter had an abortion when she was in college. She said that her dad supported her abortion decision because the government had no business intruding into its citizens’ private lives.

That’s funny. Doc Ghanem (moms friend) gave me a B-12 shot in the butt when I caught mono at 15. And I perked right up. He gave me one more a few days later.

Washington Post Editor Ben Bradlee

Lyndon complained about Bradlee's coverage of him : (in Texan accent) "When I say it, it's reported as "bull sh*t". When he says it (Bradlee), it comes out Chanel No. Fiiiiiiiiiiiive!"

Me, I’d be known as the president who takes an afternoon nap.

They crucified Reagan for that.

“She said that her dad supported her abortion decision because the government had no business intruding into its citizens’ private lives.”

Ah, I suppose I can beat my kid to death then, hopefully the government won’t intrude.

A serious blind spot with Goldwater, sad to say.
