A tax levy didn’t just happen. It had been on the schedule for a while.

I guess it appears that they think they can force complete confiscation and outlaw of all guns and that this would keep their children safe. No need to spend their money; let the government gun-grab. A plus for them.

I guess pressure cookers, and then stainless steel Thermos bottles, Propane and MAPGAS cylinders et al will be next on their list. Maybe think about some nut getting hold of a school bus and rampaging it through a school yard. A dumptruck? A semi? Gasoline and matches?

Yes, it’s much easier to react and ask Obama to do it - he got’s a stash.

It seems that the Libtards have their priorities straight. Bet they have plenty of money for bike lanes, though.

Too cheap to pay for their own children’s safety, yet oh, so willing to deprive the law abiding of their constitutional rights.

They want everyone else to pay for it.
If everyone else refuses to pay for it - it's everyone elses fault if it happens again.
It's the left wing entitlement mentality rearing it's ugly head.
Everyone seems to think they should get a free ride these days. If "the federal government" (other people) paid for it, they'd take in in a second.

Gun Control Nazi extremism won’t secure schools

I am sure Newtown could have canned a vice principal or two to pay for extra security. Public schools everywhere have too many management and non-teaching personnel....they could have canned a few non-teachers

Extra security makes it sound like they already have security.

Sorry, but my right to bear arms is an inalienable right, it doesn't come from the Constitution or any other politician. The 2nd Amendments is a prohibition on government....not me

We pro-freedom crowd needs to stop referring to their "Constitutional" right, when they are really innate. If the Constitution gives it, the amending of the Constitution can take away.

Instead, it’s preferable to travel around on Air Force One, milk the nation’s sympathy, lobby Senators and push for gun control.

But a good solution to the security problem in their schools... nahhhhh.

I don’t think Freepers should jump on the residents of Newtown, who have suffered enough.

Lanza could have lived anywhere. There is no reason to believe that children in Newtown are more at risk now than children in other towns. I don’t think we need to spend a lot more on school security nationwide.

Another thought - The margins that these budgets were voted down by were slim. My shooting partner makes the case: "Should we call out these taxpayer schlubs and vilify them as child-killers and murderers the same way they demonized the NRA and it's membership?"

Yes, the people of Newtown have suffered enough, but are still unwilling to protect their own kids. Enough said.

“...If the Constitution gives it, the amending of the Constitution can take away. ...”

An important distinction, to be sure.

Every human being has a basic Human Right to defend the life that God gave them, with the most expedient means available.

A show was on a few nights back about the wheel-lock pistol and how quickly it changed the face of political power in Europe.

The Church tried to outlaw it (except for themselves, of course); European monarchies tried to outlaw it (except for themselves, of course). All pooled resources of power and tried to maintain a monopoly of force, and couldn’t.

Once out, the technology and knowledge of how to make gunpowder spread faster than they could control.

It was the ULTIMATE “democratizing” device.

If gave the ordinary “peasant serf” the ability to back up the single most-hated word that a would-be statist can hear.

That word is “No”.

Those “born booted and ready to ride” as the quote goes still hate the fact that we the people can tell them “No”... we’re witnessing their rage right now.

F*** ‘em.
