If I was cooking for you, you would eat pretty well for $1.50/day. That's a bag of rice, a bag of beans, cornmeal and some meat.

Now... you are going to have to do some work out in the garden to get the rest of the meal, but right this minute, there's plenty of green-leaf lettuce and spinach and asparagus. Later, we'll have tomatoes and peppers and kohlrabi and in a week or two, radishes and chard.

You would eat well.
