The family of Kaitlyn Hunt wants prosecutors to reconsider the charges against their daughter. Under a plea deal on the table, she would face two years of house arrest and one year of probation for engaging in a physical relationship with her younger girlfriend, a student at a Sebastian, Fla., high school. Her mom says shes no criminal and was being targeted, in part, because of her sexuality.

It wasn’t that many years ago that sexual acts between same sex couples was not only a sin, but by local laws was considered a crime.
Texas probably had the most stringent laws against homosexual and lesbian activity.
I could care less about the pervert. I support the parents.
The real problem here is that government schools are prisons. Education is not their purpose. Their sole purpose is to launder taxpayer dollars to Democrat candidates through mandatory teachers union dues.
I think you’re right. Many boys’ lives have been ruined because they dated 16-year-olds when they were 18. That was kind of standard when I was in high school, but nowadays it gets you targeted as a sex offender and marked for life.
I am not justifying the relationship. I am questioning the prosecution of it as a crime. In reply to your comment, I believe those laws are history, now. And this occurred in FL. Questions to ponder: Were you ever in high school? Did any of your schoolmates engage in sexual activity? Were there any seniors having sex with sophomores (18-15)? How many were ever reported to police, let along prosecuted?
Read the article. The relationship is past tense.

No argument here, but — as they bring in Planned Parenthood to talk up sexual activity (both hetero and homo) as a fun activity for all — why is this girl being prosecuted.
It does not add up.
“Hunts uncle, Andrew Gay, told the Daily News that the girls were in the same social circle at Sebastian River High School and played together on the basketball team.”
I figured sports would be at the center of it, it always is - that’s where the predators hit the hardest. A friend of mine’s sister had to quit girl’s volleyball in college because of constantly being hit on (she was the only straight one on the team, and she planned on staying that way).
It also didn’t help this girl to have a gay uncle.
The sins of a Lickalottapus , better get used to it, there will be a lot more of it as schools teach kids that Homosexuality is the same as heterosexuality only without the pregnancies.
At least they can’t knock each other up...
I support the parents.

You mean, rather, you support *one* of the two sets of parents involved in this issue.
Cracked me up!
What about the tens of thousands of young teen aged girls who give birth. They are not punished. They are rewarded with Section 8 housing, EBT cards, welfare, cell phone, and free medical care. Those babies weren’t dropped out of the sky by the stork.
What’s the deal?
She’s hot.
Not Guilty!!!
I’ve done a sport where I was the only straight woman among lesbians - never once hit upon or leered at.
Your anecdotes may vary.
In my high school, freshmen were called by their proper name among adult seniors: jail bait. And absolutely this is being prosecuted across the country, when adults can’t keep their paws outside of the pants of youth. Just because they both happen to be in the same high school does not change anything.
Or what, she gets a free pass from the same crime that thousands are convicted of each year just because she happens to be gay?
The case in question is in Florida. Do not know the laws there.
However, I do not recall any 18 year old boy ever being turned into police for engaging in “activities” with his younger girlfriend when I was in high school.
Not that everyone did that kind of thing that long ago, but some did, and it seemed to be — more or less — considered part of what went on in high school.
Again, not justifying the relationship. Questioning the prosecution of it as a crime. It occurred between two high school students — not between a teacher and a student.
