'Trevor Bolder, the bassist in David Bowie's legendary 1970s backing band Spiders From Mars, has died from cancer at the age of 62.
Rock band Uriah Heep, whom Bolder joined in 1976, announced the death of "a world-class bass player" and "world-class friend" on their website.
He stopped playing with the band a few months ago because of poor health.
Bolder appeared on classic Bowie albums including The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
"Trevor was an all-time great, one of the outstanding musicians of his generation and one of the finest and most influential bass players that Britain ever produced," Uriah Heep said in a statement.
The death comes a few weeks after the 20th anniversary of the death of guitarist Mick Ronson, another of the Spiders From Mars.'

R.I.P. - a lot of my partying days as a teen in the Midwest during the seventies had a Ziggy Stardust soundtrack.
i liked the heep with gary thain
ray manzarek is dead too
You aren’t alone. The Ziggy album was a sound track to my youth.
Wow.. A lot of my favorites as a teen are leaving. I saw Uriah Heep in the summer of 1970 (’71?) in Asbury Park, and David Bowie during his Aladdin Sane tour in Philly in the early ‘70s (1973?). By the way, I can’t believe Uriah Heep is still going. I thought they were through when David Byron left in the mid ‘70s. (He died in 1985.)
Anyway, RIP another Spider.
Yikes, my daughter told me Ray Manzarek died, too. What’s going on? The Doors have always been my all-time favorite American band.
The whole band was tight. Mick Ronson’s guitar was a razor.Great production through out.
Wham-Bam Thank You Mam.
RIP.
It’s a bad day for classic rockers
The Doors Ray Manzarek also passed away today (cancer)
Ronson had a unique sound. But although he joined after the Spiders era, I was partial to Carlos Alomar.
Now that so many aging rock stars will be kicking the bucket, I think it’s time for a separate forum. Rockers of the Age or something?
YEa I hope I’m not one of em lol! RIP to Both Fine artists!
I will have a special spot for them wed night on my show!!
Rock and Roll Heaven is forever expanding with the greats!
RIP!
For a rock musician to reach 62 years of age is like a regular human being living to be 124.
brings back some memories.. dimly but.. rockers are dropping like flies.. just like the old days. ;-]
I’m surprised Steven Tyler is still around.
Re Steven Tyler, I was surprised that a guy who looked like something the cat dragged in could have a daughter who looks like Liv Tyler.
Keith Richards hasn’t aged a day in the last 40 years. Of course, he looked 105 back then.
Youre too old to lose it, too young to choose it
And the clocks waits so patiently on your song
You walk past a cafe but you don’t eat when youve lived too long
Oh, no, no, no, you’re a rock n roll suicide
Chev brakes are snarling as you stumble across the road
But the day breaks instead so you hurry home
Don’t let the sun blast your shadow
Don’t let the milk float ride your mind
Youre so natural - religiously unkind
Oh no love! you’re not alone
Youre watching yourself but you’re too unfair
You got your head all tangled up but if I could only
Make you care
Oh no love! you’re not alone
No matter what or who youve been
No matter when or where youve seen
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain
Ive had my share, I’ll help you with the pain
Youre not alone
