Yet another famous Hollywood face is pushing for gun control. “I cannot understand the people who are against some form of gun control,” insisted legendary actor Kirk Douglas on the Huffington Post yesterday.
“America’s cowboy days are over,” wrote the 96-year-old Douglas. Mentioning that “some crazy fan” had given him an engraved gun, Douglas, who often played cowboys, announced unhappily that America has “become a cowboy country with too many guns.”
“That frightens me,” Douglas declared.
Douglas concluded by suggesting that anti-gun-control advocates are only “interested in making more money for the gun manufacturers” – or worse, “just want to oppose the president in anything he endorses.”
He then called on voters to make “it more difficult to get a gun.” Bringing up his grandchildren, he said he “would hate to leave them a world where guns are easily accessible.”
The irony, of course, is that Douglas is just following the trend of liberal Hollywood celebrities campaigning against the 2nd amendment right to bear arms, while Hollywood movies continue to glorify violence. Maybe America’s cowboy days are over; but the days of Hollywood hypocrisy sure aren’t.

He’s 96 years old and his cowboy days are definitely over. People tend to get frightened and crotchety, and he figures if he can’t hold a gun anymore, no one else should either. He probably chases kids off his lawn with a cane.
As I get old, all these people that I KNOW are dead keep coming back to life. I call them Hollywood Zombies. C’mon, I DISTINCTLY remember him dying a few years ago.

Mr. Actor...as long as we have armed criminals - who will NEVER comply with ANY gun control laws - I demand to reserve my Constitutional right to protect myself against such thugs. Also, I demand my Constitutional right to protect myself against an overreaching government.
I respectfully suggest you live your remaining sunset years preserving the quality of your life's work, and stay completely away from the issue of gun control.

Agree. It’s my guess, unless his son has confiscated them, he has a pretty nice collection. Probably has an armed guard at the gate of his property too.
One voice out of 300 million or so. He is entitled to his opinion. I respect that. But I disagree. My vote counts as much as his.

I don’t know why guns should frighten him! As gun laws have become less stringent re CCW the old days of gunfights in the streets predicted by the grabbers has not materialized. In fact the opposite has happened, Gun crime/crime has decreased by over 50%.
Hey Kirk wake up and smell the coffee, guns have made us safer than before because the bad guys don’t like running into armed citizens.
Look at all the bad things Obama can’t do because of the armed citizen...he’s had to spend a lot of losing political capital trying to restrict gun ownership.....

My nephew’s wife is a died in the wool Democrat....according to him she’s coming around slowly......he bought her a pistol for her birthday, and now she wants an AR and a shotgun! Go figure..... she’ll be a conservative Republican yet! Good thing my nephew is patient.

He should watch some of his own movies and see what happens when governments take guns away from people.
Maybe he can’t tell the line between movies and reality.
He doesn’t have to worry about crime. He probably doesn’t live in a neighborhood where gang members shoot through the wall and kids have to hide in the bathtub to avoid a bullet. He might even have armed security guards...
Some years ago, I seem to remember, Kirk got into trouble for shooting with a rifle the rear tires of a neighbor’s tractor that he contended was infringing on his property. If I remember correctly, the tractor was in motion driven by the neighbor’s young son.
He'd probably like to stop drooling, too. Tough luck, Kirk.
