Washington - Senior Obama administration officials, including the directors of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and of national intelligence, have held 13 classified hearings and briefings for members of Congress since 2009 to explain the broad authority they say they have to sweep up electronic records for national security purposes, a senior administration official said Saturday. (Snip) Lawmakers said that what they knew was vague and broad and that strict rules of classification prevented them from truly debating the programs or conducting proper oversight.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I bet there’s nothing to see here, and this is the diversion it was intended to be.
Exactly. They may have been "briefed," but they certainly weren't "briefed" on the specific targets of this rabidly paranoid Administration.
But who in Congress was briefed? The link is to the NY Slimes so I won’t click it. My guess is only trusted Dems like Reid and Pelosi were “briefed”.
Senators on the Intelligence committee would be my guess. Grahamnesty, McCain, Feinstein, etc.
Nope. I’m hearing from the low-information man and woman on the street. And they’re ticked off and even scared. This Administration has cashed its check. There’s nowhere for them to go, now.The only thing left to do is probably an Oval Office address by the President, and all that’s going to do is conjure even more Nixonian spectres.
They’ve even undercut their most rabid supporters, who have pretty much just been informed that their vaunted free Obamaphone is probably bugged.
Yah they were probably 13 footnotes sprinkled throughout the 1000 pages of Obamacare.
Oh how I hope you are correct.
I don’t care if the Pope was briefed. It’s still the government spying on U.S. citizens and that’s a crime. This regime has violated the rights of millions of Americans. That’s not the way the government is supposed to work in this country. See: the Bill of Rights.
I think I am. They have literally become a joke (Leno, for example, is having a field day with all of this). Once you become a joke in America, your shelf life is extremely limited.
Obama knows Congress can’t talk about it, so his Regime throws out this meaningless information. Both Democrats and Republicans have said they were in the dark. Given the Regime’s track record, I don’t know how anyone could believe them.
Nope. Im hearing from the low-information man and woman on the street. And theyre ticked off and even scared. This Administration has cashed its check.
Both parties have cashed their checks on this with their cavalier responses. This is The Big One; a nuclear bomb has hit the beltway.
Yup.
“have held 13 classified hearings and briefings for (selective) members of Congress “
Yes. This is ENORMOUS. Obama’s cavalier response to it the other day, making a short comment after talking about whatever garbage he is pushing was inexcusable. He lied to us AGAIN, and said ALL of Congress was briefed, and said emails weren’t being read. We know emails are being read, as the NSA admitted so, but said it was an accident...
I don’t think I have words to describe the severity of this crime against our nation’s laws and people - except for maybe “monstrous.”
Checks and balances? Where is the justice? We have two branches of government in collusion to spy on American citizens. The Executive and Legislative branches of the American government are co-conspirators violating Americans’ rights to privacy! It is way beyond time for major changes in this government that is supposed to represent its citizens!!!!!
>> My hypocrisy goes only so far
I like that.
Congress briefed or not, the last word We The People had from Obama was his campaign rhetoric telling us he was opposed to just this kind of gubermint snooping. WE WEREN’T BRIEFED!!!
Oh please! Like that charter of negative liberties means anything.
The left is begging for a violent uprising. They should be careful what they wish for.
