Bolton: NSA leaker Edward Snowden is guilty of treason
WLS ^ | June 10, 2013 | John Dempsey

Posted on 06/10/2013 7:31:41 AM PDT by maggief

(CHICAGO)

(snip)

Former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton told Bruce Wolf and Dan Proft on WLS that he thinks admitted leaker Edward Snowden, is guilty of treason:

"Number one, this man is a liar. He took an oath to keep the secrets that were shared with him so he could do his job. He said said he would not disclose them, and he lied. Number two, he lied because he thinks he's smarter and has a higher morality than the rest of us. This guy thinks he has a higher morality, that he can see clearer than other 299-million 999-thousand 999 of us, and therefore he can do what he wants. I say that is the worst form of treason".

'Bolton: NSA leaker Edward Snowden is guilty of treason'
Oh really?!?
Okey-dokey John. How about putting the NSA shoe on the other foot -- YOURS!

Dear Mr. Bolton,

FYI, I may, or not, be looking into your house with binoculars. I also may, or not, be keeping a log of what I see you doing in your house. Naturally, that includes anyone else in your house. You have nothing to fear,as I'll be doing this, or not doing it, for your own safety. So please act naturally while you are being observed, or not, and all your visible actions noted in my log book.

I will not tell anyone what I see, or not see, nor be releasing this to anyone I *might think* it would be useful to. If you're not doing anything 'wrong' or illegal you should have no objections to me observing you, or not, for every remaining minute of your life.

Again John, remember that it's for your own safety. You have nothing to fear. It's only Metadata.

Regards,
Someone Anonymous

ps: Kindly inform the Mrs to leave the Bathroom door open.
pps: If you tell anyone what I'll be doing, or not doing, you'll be in big trouble buster.

John Bolton can bite me.

Psychologically, they want us all feeling like we live in a fishtank. For government eyes and ears to observe us at their will.

They want to get as close to omniscience and omnipresence as they can get without having the ability to be God. And now what was being done in the dark has been brought into the light. And the Obama cockroaches are scurrying to take cover, I'm sure. Bolten should be placing the blame where it belongs>>> on Obama and the Corrupt that he surrounds himself with.

Sorry for not making myself clear. I was commenting on the academic question of a treason charge. It is an odd criminal charge in that it is written in the Constitution and the elements include a requirement of two witnesses.

Personally, I am going to wait and see before passing judgment on anybody. I certainly don't think the NSA should be recording all the electronic usage of Americans or legal residents of America. The flip side is that I never take articles written in the Guardian or Washington Post as gospel.

I was astonished to listen to the pundits on Fox state: "where is the proof of any damage to a citizen by this activity?". And I'm talking about domestic surveillance by the NSA.

I don't normally cotton to the New York Times, but this article is especially poignant: Stasi and Post Unification Germany

Of course, those who were victims of the Stasi couldn't bring evidence public while the surveillance (and the repressive East German regime) was under way, but the damage was done.
Now, an excellent comment was made on Bret Baier's show "Can anyone seriously believe that 140 million Americans were all making telephone calls to Yemen?". Of course they weren't. What has been done is akin to a general warrant which was one of the big drivers for the 4th amendment. And now our "public servants" are engaging in another round of kabuki theater by talking "better oversight" or "we need to punish the leaker". I'm convinced that in the main there is no intention by Representatives or Senators, much less the President, to stop this. One doesn't heavily finance the construction of a data collection facility in Utah without the intention of doing what has been revealed by Snowden.

Is Snowden a hero? I don't have enough information to make that determination. Neither do I have enough information to say Snowden is guilty of treason. I can say that on the surface, Snowden has revealed a very disturbing activity of the Federal government. Heck, the same pundits who were excoriating the IRS for targeting groups are now today saying trust the government. And despite the claims of Krauthammer that the IRS had complaints against it and makes a difference from what the NSA is doing, I see little difference in terms of a structure that can be turned on Americans literally at the flip of a switch (and probably already is).

I think what the powers that be don't like is that their shenanigans have been exposed, along with their disdain for the strictures of the Constitution. I also am finding it hard to deny that our government regards its citizens as the enemy, or potential enemies, very much like the East German government. The question is: Do we, Americans, stop this now, or do we have to wait 40 or 50 years where the abuse will escalate, only to achieve belated justice against the abusers, where many who have suffered have already passed on?

Have I ever called you any name or insulted you by telling you that you are not conservative? I have no idea who or what this guy is but I do know that he is confirming what we all know... obama is turning this Republic into a police state and it is pro muslim... anti-Christian... anti-white... anti-American and anti-Constitutional. Forget this Snowden character and concentrate on what he is telling us.

Oh and bolton is full on gay marriage and somewhat anti-Second Amendment so he is just another progressive drone... busily pushing the hive to the left.

Bolton, Boehner, Graham, etc. are sacrificing their integrity in order to be seen as loyal government servants for whom a job is more important than the country. Does the word prostitution fit in there somewhere?

I'm not sure Snowden is a hero either, but what Bolton just said is patently deceptive. I believe that secrecy is used to protect us most of the time. Secrecy is also used to violate us.

For instance: If I am the director of a goverment program that is a tragic squander of vast amounts of time and resources not to mention our sovereignty (ex: the UN) and I impose secrecy to avoid scruitny, I am violating the people I purport to protect.
