View it as authoritarians versus freedom lovers and it all settles into place, deluded though the left end of the spectrum for either one may well be.

>>Yeah, like that’s going to happen when the eye of everyone in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world is focussed on Mr. Snowden at this moment in time. <<

Oh, really? Exactly where is he then? What hotel, what room?

Are you so sure he hasn’t already been picked up?

How would we know? And how long would it take, if he did disappear, before conspiracy theorists start theorizing that it’s our government, not the Chinese, that have him (whether true or not)?

You seriously don’t think the Chinese are trying to find him right this moment? I suspect they know exactly where he is, and are laying plans for his transit to mainland China in the very near future. Hong Kong was not the wisest choice, in my opinion.

Look, you sound so certain that his treason did no damage to our national security. All I’m saying is that you can’t know that, and that in the end it could do serious damage.

And I do think our government surveillance has run amuck. The question is whether or not he behaved treasonously in exposing the extent of surveillance. I don’t think there’s any question about that. He did. And if the Chinese get hold of him, what he’s revealed so far might pale in comparison to what they are able to squeeze out of him later.

Yay, I don’t agree with you on this one.

This guy exposed a corrupt government and I’m grateful for his stance.

Makes one wonder just how extensive is the plot to overthrow our nation/our Constitution.

The folks have been dumbed down
The folks have been made dependent
The folks have been separated from their history/heritage
The folks have been plied with a lifetime of lies
The folks have been desensitized to morality
The folks have been re-inculturated
The folks have been driven, like animals to serve their baser instincts/drives/lusts

The folks are ready for a “god” to lead them...

Think about how okay with this some of the Pubbies are! What it behind the curtain of all this that implicate them/threaten them.

“That’s [FISA rubber stamping is] a major issue here! “

And I agreed. Calling it a Canary is a reference to a means of detecting danger.

“No one is claiming the government doesn’t have the right to collect information.”

I get the impression a substantial number of people are getting very close to saying just that.

Precisely. It has run a sword through vast partisan and ideological blocks. I see this as proof that it warrants a great national discussion, which Mr. Snowden claims to be his purpose.

I like your ironic tagline. Reminds me of a truck I saw on a Chicago freeway a few decades ago which said: No Slogan - Just Service.

If Bolton is serious, rather than just reading the lines for the part he is playing, then Bolton can't think out of his career box full of beliefs from a different time.

After giving this some thought, I realized that average geek, American Ed Snowden, has restored my faith in the generation behind me.

Here is someone who went through the total indoctrination and then, ten years out, the freedom loving American rose up and threw that crap off of him, took the ultimate risks, both for him and his, and stood up to obama and the Beast!

Is he the David against our story's Goliath?

Is he this generation's lone man in Tiananmen Square standing against a line of tanks?

I don't know yet, but I don't see him as a traitor guilty of treason. Right now, he looks more like Paul Revere.

I think I see a very brave man doing what every other who saw the same things was unable to do.

“You know darned well that any information sucked up by these programs will be used not to identify Muslim terrorists, but to spy on Tea Partiers and conservatives and gun owners.”

You are correct to a point, the current administration will use it for their benefit to get ahead of their political opposition and the excuse of looking for terrorists will be a plus,(that is, if they use it.) I gress we will never trust our government again.

“And if the Chinese get hold of him, what he’s revealed so far might pale in comparison to what they are able to squeeze out of him later.”

Well, we’ll see if that ever happens, that the Chinese swoop down, whisk him away and interrogate him for all the world to see. And I’m sure that they are going to do this while Mr. Snowden is in Hong Kong, which fights mainland China tooth and nail in order to preserve freedom of speech. Heck, the Chinese may very well have already hacked all of our data mining anyhow.

The question is whether or not the Executive branch went after records of citizens who oppose them.

We know for sure that the Executive branch used the NSA to gut Petraeus.

I’m on the liberty and freedom side of this, you appear to have chosen the neo-con, hawk only, secrecy, RINO establishment side of this. To each their own.

No. I’m on the “let’s be careful to not confuse what we are talking about”, and the “let’s not shoot ourselves because a nut across the street has a gun” side.

Guy gave away a $200K a year job, his home, family, freedom, friends, girl friend to out a corrupt government gone amok. That not treason in my book.

I don’t know about you, but I am anything but confused, and as to the nut across the street with the gun, I can assure you I would not shoot myself, I’d shoot him, lol!!!

“The question is whether or not he behaved treasonously”

So did our founding fathers. It all depends on whose ox is being gored.
