German Government Brands Goods Made in Factories That Are Owned by Jews

In a throwback to its darkest past, the German government recently decided to back an initiative which singles out Jewish-owned businesses and targets them for detrimental treatment. Joining 13 other European Union members, Berlin has reportedly agreed to support efforts aimed at applying special labels of origin to products manufactured by Jewish owned factories in Judea and Samaria. The goal is to harm the livelihood of Jewish businessmen and entrepreneurs as a way of undermining the settlement enterprise. Needless to say, goods made by Palestinian-run plants in the territories will not similarly be branded.

“Bitte schoen!”

Thank you! I have to admit, however, I needed to look this up. It was such an interesting phrase to read about! I do wish I knew more German. We didn’t have the option to study German in school, so I actually know more French than German. I’ve been learning a little German here & a little there, however. It’s a fascinating language.

Did you ever see the movie Amadeus? There is a scene where the older, heavyset official in the Emperor’s court tried to explain to Mozart why an opera in German wouldn’t work. He searches for his word, & then explains that German is too “brutal”. It’s a great scene—particularly in light of Mozart’s brilliant German operas.

I’m about halfway through Mr Tenenbom’s book. It’s a surprising work, to say the least.

They’re only to eager to sell us Heiniken beer, though. Carlsberg and Tuborg also want a piece of the market here. Personally, I’ll stick to either Israeli or Eastern European makes.
