Talks of Secession Begin Among Several Colorado Counties following New Gun and Energy Bills (VIDEO)

At least seven and as many as ten counties have started seriously considering secession following the passage of new laws including strong gun control and a new energy regulations that raises rates for rural residents.

Disgruntled citizens are looking to create their own new state of “North Colorado,” because their representatives in Denver don’t have their interests in mind when drafting policy. Even counties in neighboring states are talking about seceding to North Colorado if it becomes its own state.

“We’ve had citizens coming to our hearings for months asking us to please do something. This is for real,” said Weld county commissioner Sean Conway.

“They treat us as if we don’t exist,” he said. “It’s not like we didn’t try to engage the legislature — it’s that we were ignored over and over again.”

“[House majority leader] Dickey Lee Hullinghorst told us, ‘If you liked this legislative session, you’re going to love the next one,’” Conway said. “We were like, ‘Holy moley.’ People were literally gasping.”

“The people of rural Colorado are mad, and they have every right to be,” said state rep. Cory Gardner (R). “The governor and his Democrat colleagues in the statehouse have assaulted our way of life, and I don’t blame these people one bit for feeling attacked and unrepresented by the leaders of our state.”

“We’re actually going to pursue it,” said Weld county commissioner Douglas Rademacher , a farmer whose jurisdiction is spearheading the effort. “Frankly, we’ve been ignored in northeastern Colorado now for the last, going on eight years with the current administration in Denver.”

“Frankly, we see no option,” he said. “We are going to move forward.”

The last time a state successfully seceded was 150 years ago, when West Virginia broke from Virginia in 1863.

That’s cool...as far as it goes.I want states (or,perhaps, portions of states) to secede from the United States.I want this country split in two....creating the Communist States of America (CA,NY,MA,IL,MI,NJ,MD and a few others) and the Respectable States of America (GA,TN,TX,MO,NE and many others).

Go for it, people. I’d love to see what the roadmap is for this. I’ll bet a lot of others would follow suit.

Maybe this would work for Southern Maryland. We could dump O’Malley, Hoyer, Cummings Mikulski and Cardin all at the same time.

They should take the West Slope with them and after a respectable interim - join Wyoming.

Colo went blue scary fast.
From +5 Bush in 04 to +5 Baraq in 12.

I can see where a decent part of the citizenry is asking “WTF happened”??

I assume influx of coastal libs and swarm of illegals.

My idiot liberal niece migrated from SF to Denver when her job imploded in the Baraqqi Depression.

I think there’s a fair amount of that too.

She says it’s far more cost effective to be on welfare in Colo.

I don’t think they will succeed any more than we will in here in Riverside county Kalifornia, as we try to form “South California”. Our state legislature is NOT going to let us get away.

Good for CO. I was just wondering what had happened to the Colorado of Galt’s Gulch.

Can anyone imagine what a glut of new conservative senators would do to the current liberal senate? This possibility is too good!

The productive people of that state should form a “new Colorado” which includes the existing state EXCEPT for Boulder and Denver.

The folks in those two cities can then be made to exist using only sunshine, wind power, and whatever slime they can grow in their sinks.

Make it at the county level. Illinois will build a wall around Chicago and secede.

Colorado citizens will do the same with Denver/Boulder.

California will quarantine the west coast cities and secede.

Maryland will seal in Baltimore and secede.

The most popular bumper sticker 40myears ago in Colorado was ..”DONT CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!”

Unfortunately it has been Californicated.

Now they are working on my beloved New Mexico.

Yes, I’m sure that’s part of it.

You also get Conservatives fleeing states like California.
