A nine-year-old schoolgirl has managed to enter Turkey using a passport that identified her as a pink unicorn.

Officials at Antalya airport even stamped Emily Harris's travel documents before waving her through customs despite the official photograph showing the face of her favourite stuffed toy.

Her mother and father today admitted they were left stunned after they handed their daughter the wrong passport when they landed to start a week's holiday in the country.

That’s nothing; Barack Obama flies everywhere on Airforce One on a passport that identifies him as an American!

With all due respect to the family, I would wait until exiting the country before disclosing the error.

Quick! Give the fellow who stamped the visa a U.S. green card and a job with the T.S.A.

Our TSA would have strip-searched her.

The skin tone and facial shape display similarities. I don’t blame the customs worker.

Frankly I’m glad to see it. I’m guessing these bad people didn’t bother to strip molest her or harass her grandmother either.

I don't see a problem with this. Passport photos are notoriously bad and rarely look like the actual person. Further, the girl doesn't look like a terrorist or a criminal, and the same is probably true for her parents. The Turkish official clearly saved time, clearly making the right decision, and clearly leaving himself with more time to detect and respond to real threats.

Barack Hussein Obama's passport photos:

While they all capture what he's like on the inside, none looks like him on the outside beyond a superficial resemblance.

I used to have some of those passports for my kids. They could be green alligators or long-necked geese, humpty-backed camels or chimpanzees.

I guess they never watched Midnight Express. I would not choose to mess with Turkish Customs.

Does not surprise me, given the quality of work they
do in that country.

Yeah, that’s what came to my mind too. Now she has to get out of Turkey without saying hello to Billy Hayes’s cellmates.

This can not be. I got stuck in Istambul for 10 hours because I had the wrong color ink on my military travel orders.

Why not a unicorn? If she decided she were a little boy, the world would be forced to agree with her.

My assumption is the official may well have just given the girl a break and stamped her toy’s passport.

Making a big deal of it may cause a mass emigration of TSA wannabe rough feeders who failed to qualify for a TSA job.

Oops, on second thought .....
