I say let the battle continue indefinitely until Al-Qaeda expends all of its respawns.
Insane. To think that the ones taking over would be somehow better for Israel. I cannot believe that a decade after 9/11, the US military is supporting Al Qeida in the field, and is even going to fly to protect them.
Disgraceful and treasonous.
As long as Shiites and Sunnis are killing each other, what’s the problem?
What events NOW lead to THOSE ends? Does Assad winning with Iran and Russia's help do it? Does a Rebel victory accomplish this?
It's like knowing the answer and solving for X. What's X?
Assad has been around for a long time, but now he’s a humbled and weakened Assad on life support from Iran and Hezbollah.
I say its a good situation for Israel. The Sunni states won’t care what Israel does to Hezbollah and Assad won’t be a threat for a long time.
It is actually good for Israel.
Does anyone think for one New York minute that al quaida would refrain from attacking Israel? The “rebels” are al quaida.
We want Assad to win. Period. We want secular government. Not muslim kooks in charge.
If he’s winning, he’ll just win a pile of concrete and a nation still hating him.
The U.S. should have thought of this problem before it helped create (beginning a decade ago) the “regime change” “Syrian opposition” - with the Saudis, the MB and Al Queda - and then foisted it on the world as a “civil war” and created events that threw Assad into such a close embrace with Iran & Russia.
The chickens are coming home to roost.
Neither side winning is good for the USA so let them kill each other.
Because the secular Assad dictatorship isn't "theocratic" and leaves chrstians alone, some FReepers seem to think he's some sort of hero. While he is indeed preferable to the opposition, he's still a Communist dictator supported by Iran (just as in Libya, though rebels were worse than Qaddafi, he was still a bad guy).
Regardless of who wins, Syria probably isn't going to know any peace and tranquility until Mashiach HaMelekh comes.
