A jury of six women, five of them white and the other a minority, was picked Thursday to decide the second-degree murder trial of George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer who says he shot an unarmed black teenager, Trayvon Martin, in self-defense.

Agreed. Obama lost the married women's vote (Romney got 53%), but won more than 2/3 of the single women's vote.

Florida has 6 member juries. Of the six women jurors seated, five are married. Also, two are self-identified gun owners. One had a concealed carry permit but let it expire. Her husband still has one.

All in all, this is not the prosecution's dream jury.

When it comes to small group decision making, especially involving risk, women do not differ significantly from men. There is no reason to assume a priori that this is a plus or minus for Zimmerman. It all depends on the skill of the defense counsel.

In addition to the family stability issues, note the State attempted to have two of the six removed for cause, unsuccessfully. As to the married Hispanic nurse with kids who prefers reality tv to news, depending on where she lived in Chicago, she may have experience with the stereotypes alluded to earlier in the thread, the image of young blacks as thugs. Would be interesting to know what she was arrested for

Wait until the first of the many times that Bernie tries to pull the wool over the eyes of this jury with some of his nonsense evidence and phony experts.

The women on that jury will be offended by his no evidence prosecution — thinking to themselves “who does he think we are — a bunch of dumb broads???”.

I don’t know the area but my wife and my daughters are all concealed carry women. If they were on the jury George would get a fair trail.

White female jurors will not need to be shown the pictures of Martin to understand that he was a thug.

I don't see how he can have a self defense unless he can show why that little 12 year old could overpower him.

I'm beginning to think Zimmerman should have pointed the gun at his own head and pulled the trigger.

First, he unconditionally trusted the Police and gave them hours and hours of testimony and assistance.

Then, when the MSM and the Democrat Party savagely turned on him, he fired his first two attorneys, who were passionate defenders of self-defense.

Then, he hired a new attorney, Mark O’Mara, a local TV legal analyst and lifelong Democrat who has NO experience defending a completely innocent man.

Then, Zimmerman, with O’Mara’s encouragement, apologized in court, on videotape, to Trayvon Martin's parents.

Then, O’Mara made two egregious errors concerning Zimmerman's PayPal account and passport.

Then, after much of the exculpatory evidence in this case was discovered by Conservative bloggers, O’Mara publicly criticized Conservative blog sites.

And, the final act of Zimmerman's death wish, he agrees to a jury of six women who watch “The View” every day.

tomorrow the judge rules on defense motion to exclude ‘experts’ who deciphered the scream for help heard on the 911 tape as being from martin, as well as some other motions.

Any poll has women not being supportive of the Second Amendment. Not as supportive as men. Women till towards a willingness to be dependent on the police to ensure their safety instead of arming themselves

This jury could work out well but then again one has to consider that the media has already convicted him several times over and there is one other thing.

All I have to do is remember the Menendez jury with the boo-hooing female jurors who didn’t want to convict the brothers of slaughtering their parents because they were now “orphans”. That irrational, emotional, response is enough to bring into question any primarily female jury. There might not be any with that mindset but it should give the defense some pause.

This is not necessarily bad.

Break-ins in the neighborhood. WOMEN were scared, one woman had guys break in while she was at home.

Zimmerman was active in trying to watch for burglars. Women will appreciate a man trying to look out for them.

The women WILL see the pictures of the present day Trayvon. They will NOT think he is the harmless little boy portrayed in the media.

Even still, Zimmerman has an uphill battle the prejudice in the case is unbelievable.
