Do the words "double jeopardy" ring a bell, Joe? In 2012, shortly after Trayvon Martin was killed, and when few facts were available, Joe Scarborough didn't hesitate to brand George Zimmerman a "murderer."
Scarborough's pro-prosecution bias was on display again on Morning Joe today, when he declared that the absence of African-Americans on the George Zimmerman jury would "immediately" make a verdict subject to appeal. Really? So if this jury were to acquit Zimmerman, the prosecution would have a valid basis to overturn the verdict on appeal? Sure sounds like double jeopardy—but Scarborough never raised that concern.

You are on to something here. I'm guessing that if Zimmerman is acquitted of murder charges, the fed's will fill a civil rights violation against him.
And then Zimmerman will be convicted in a federal court. The Attorney General will see to that.
Sorry, but can’t agree. Surely Scarborough isn’t saying that if Zimmerman is convicted, he would appeal on the basis there were no African-Americans on the jury.
The Written Constitution is so 18th century that it's not worth reading, and it was obsolete even then. In the Living Constitution, double jeopardy is less important than diversity, since diversity is the centerpiece of the penumbra.

Sounds like he’s trying to put thoughts into the minds of the potential rioters - “informing” them on what their next protest should be about - which is to demand appeal after appeal on whatever grounds until Zimmerman fries.
They really scrape the bottom of the barrel to come up with these folks. For him to say something so ludicrous he would have to be woefully ignorant of the most basic tenets of US law, or assume his audience is a cackle of complete morons.
I suspect it is that latter. After discussing politics with a few of them, I also suspect he is correct.

I suppose that's somehow still possible, but the DOJ already sent FBI agents down to investigate a possible Civil Rights charge, and concluded there was no basis for that. Overcoming their own investigation would be a pretty big hurdle.

There was a national news report that just called George Zimmerman a Caucasian instead of Hispanic. Low information voters will believe that crap in a heartbeat.
The Constitution isn’t something he is familiar with.
He’s a simpleton. The state can’t appeal an acquittal. Anyway juror B29 is a Black Hispanic. Is he saying that she doesn’t count???
The problem is I live in Tampa. Some areas downtown might get sporting but there are way too many good people who will object out in the burbs.
Scarborough has already found Zimmerman guilty I see.
Stacking the ballots in Florida led to hanging chads. Leftists demanded to keep trying until they could get the results they wanted.
Now the same leftists demand the jury be stacked and have trials until they get the result they want, which is “hanging” Zimmerman. Or else.
