Edward Snowden says he took a job with Booz Allen specifically so he could gather information on NSA

Edward Snowden said he accepted a job at contractor Booz Allen Hamilton to gain access to details of the National Security Agency's surveillance programs, a Chinese newspaper has reported. Snowden, who worked for Booz Allen Hamilton for roughly three months at an NSA facility in Hawaii, is now the subject of an international manhunt after leaking the highly classified documents. He told the South China Morning Post earlier this month that he gained the job as a systems administrator because of the access it afforded him, it said in an article published on Monday. 'My position with Booz Allen Hamilton granted me access to lists of machines all over the world the NSA hacked,' Snowden said, according to the article.

'That is why I accepted that position about three months ago.' He previously said that he took a pay cut to work for the company, where he was employed as a computer systems administrator.

So he joined specifically to leak information. He lied with all the oaths he swore and documents he signed promising not to betray US government secrets.

That's not a whistleblower, his plan was to stick it to the US all along.

If this is true, that would change things. However, this is from a Chinese newspaper, so I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions.

Recent developments certainly point in that direction. The South China Morning Post (a Hong Kong English language daily) is running the same story today (actually,it's Tuesday in Hong Kong now).

Maybe Booz Allen should be answering some questions. Like how many Chinese nationals are working on this project and what how much stock did James Clapper walk away with when he left your company?

Just like Obama and the one party Democans. What difference does it make?

Since nobody is on our side anymore (DOJ, NSA, FBI, DOH, CIA etc.) let him spill his secrets.

Its funny how we conveniently forget all the chinese nationals who keep turning up working for our defense contractors so we can be distracted by the “Super spy”.

Never mind the NSA rape of the constitution.

So far all he's done is embarrass Obama. He hasn't given our enemies anything useful from any strategic standpoint, as far as I can tell from the news accounts.

I’ve not felt this kid was a hero but neither did I think he was a traitor. This info if true is not good for US. Also read just now they think he got a great real more than originally believed.

This story is far from over.

Do you really believe the US government would admit it, if indeed he had?

At this point its more likely that they would tell us he had given useful info when he hasn’t.

I for 1 haven’t forgotten them spying on us which is what pisses me off most.

++++++++++++++++
How about the fact that he actually worked for Booz-Allen for only about a month. For the rest of his 3 months stay at B-A he was on a leave of absence plotting his get-away and fleig the country. He certainly spent much of that first month collecting his data. Not much time for a “seeing the light” moment.

That would seem to support this story, Chinese newspaper or not.

I still think Mr. Hong Kong to Moscow to Cuba to Ecuador is a flake.

Ok, let’s say that it is true.

How did he get into the position to do that kind of damage?

Clapper: "Here's the stuff we'll make up about Snowden. We'll plant it in all the media."
Obama: "Yeah, but what about the Freepers?"
Clapper: "Oh, don't worry about that. There's enough of them who'll believe this crap and condemn Snowden."

A former NSA employee told the Times that 'there are always exceptions' to the thumb drive ban, especially for employees like Snowden who work as network administrators.

Strange. Thumb drives are a no-no in classified environments even for admins.
