These are arrests and citations involving NFL players since 2000 that were more serious than speeding tickets. U-T San Diego reviewed hundreds of news reports and public records in compiling it. The list cannot be considered comprehensive in part because some incidents may not have been reported and some public records proved to be elusive. Increased media coverage of incidents also probably accounts for more incidents listed in recent years.

This is why all NFL teams have a clause in the contracts to dump the player when events like this occur. You would think that a guy who is pulling in $4 million a year would be awful careful not to screw up his limited years of high-income.
Most of them have the motto, “Don’t you know who I am?”
Maybe the NFL and the NCAA should just become a Prison League. Get the thugs out of the Colleges and Universities!

Yes, but to be fair we really should compare these arrest rates to that of the general population — that’s the term they use for prison inmates, right?

We all need to remember that not all, but most of these people have an IQ about the same as their age.
Planning ahead is not their main strength, but instant gratification and anger issues seem to be their main life's motivation.

Of course that’s 13 years for a sport with 1500+ players on the active roster at any given moment, at least that many cycle through in a year when you include training camp and the practice squad. It’s actually a pretty small number.
