Day 16 (Week #4) Zimmerman Trial – Witness Discussion Thread
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | July 1, 2013 | Sundance

Today, July 1st, is DAY #16 (of 4th week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case.

Last week the prosecution feebly presented the first series of witnesses against George Zimmerman. However, as most observers would note, the witnesses called by the state have so far been more beneficial for the Zimmerman Self-Defense position.

Well, I learned to overcome my fear of spiders, Jeff, and finally figured out that I could deal with them without calling my husband home from the office! (just kidding - I overcame it because I knew he expected me to do so)

But, when he was at home, I let him protect me from flying “woo-woos” (Moths really freaked me out, particularly at night) Bees never bothered me, nor bats, so why moths? Who knows!

Overcame my fear of “mouses in the houses” by getting a very fast Belgian Malinois bitch, who loved to track them down, wait patiently for them to come out from under wherever, and instantly break their little necks. So much better than traps!

She always got a big treat, and a “good girl”.

Probably not what you really wanted to hear, but I was always good in a serious emergency, when reaction to save lives took over, and feminine silliness over the little stuff got sent to the rear of the strange female brain.

It is entirely within reason to think a Street Punking Doped Up Thief with his friend on the phone would play big gangsta and give a beat down to Homo...and got shocked when a gun was involved.

Like Zimmerman, I write and hold a fork with my left, but shoot, throw, punch, cast a fishing line, etc. with my right.

My left eye is dominant, but my strong pistol shooting side is with my right hand.

Unlike a rifle, where one has to essentially lay one’s cheek down along the stock to sight in on target, one can actually sight a pistol with either eye one prefers, regardless of which hand it’s held in.

TM was never scared...He didn't like someone watching him. A little paranoid but goes with his lifestyle.

And GZ wouldn't have been watching him except "TM" was what I call....."out of Order"....looked like he was scoping things out instead of just walking along at a steady pace.

Here's what I don't get....GZ was in his truck making a call to the "hotline" (not 911). He was no longer following TM. Why did TM come back and circle GZ's truck instead of just going home. Just checking to make sure GZ wasn't built like Shaq?

Wish we could nail the exact time of the phone calls. Both should have been on the phone at that time but I don't think so.

And do we know who called who on the Tray calls??

"just called an old friend and an old Attn General and ax’d bout showin a persons SS number....was told that is a sueable offense"

Several here on Free Republic cringed when they saw the SSN revealed.

Why would State or Defense allow this? They are lawyers; was giving out the SSN a mistake - that I would think a lawyer would be careful about - or intentional?

Middle aged or older women, employed, 5 married with kids, 5 white 1 Hispanic, I’m not sure I’d be concerned were I Zimmerman. Could be much, much worse.

B-29: A Hispanic nurse on an Alzheimer’s ward who has several children and lived in Chicago at the time of shooting. She’s married. She said she doesn’t watch the news, preferring reality television: “Right when we got here, I got cable... I love my reality shows.” During jury selection, she said she was arrested once in Chicago.

B-76: A white, middle-aged woman who said Zimmerman had an “altercation with the young man. There was a struggle and the gun went off.” Has been married 30 years, and is unemployed. She formerly worked with her husband in his construction company. Her 28-year-old son is an attorney in Seminole County. She also has a daughter, 26, has been a victim of non-violent crime and rescues “a lot of pets.” The state tried to strike her, but was denied.

B-37: A middle-aged white woman who has worked for a chiropractor for 16 years and has many pets. She described protests in Sanford as “rioting.” Her husband is an attorney. She has two daughters: A 24-year-old dog groomer and a 27-year-old who attends the University of Central Florida. She used to have concealed weapons permit, but let it lapse. Her husband also has one.

B-51: A retired white woman from Oviedo who has a dog and 20-year-old cat. She knew a good deal about the case, but said “I’m not rigid in my thinking.” She has been in Seminole County for nine years, is unmarried and has no kids. She previously lived in Atlanta, and used to work in real estate. She also ran a call center in Brevard County which she said had 1,200 employees.

E-6: A young white woman and mother who used to work in financial services. She used this case as an example to her two adolescent children, warning them to not go out at night. She has lived in Seminole County for eight years, and is married to an engineer. She was arrested in Brevard County, but said she “was treated completely fairly.” Her husband has guns. The state tried to strike her from the jury, but was denied.

E-40: A white woman in her 60s who lived in Iowa at the time of the shooting. She heard national news reports and recalls the shooting was in a gated community and a teenager was killed. She described herself as a safety officer, is married to a chemical engineer and loves football. She has a 28-year-old son who’s out of work. She said she’s very well versed in cell phone technology, and has been a victim of crime.

These are the alternates:

E-54: A middle-aged white man with a teenage stepson who wears hoodies. He recalled seeing photos of Zimmerman’s head and face that show injuries. He loves golf and genealogy, and said he’s been married for five years to a technical engineer. He grew up in Seminole County and has a teenage stepson.

B-72: A young, possibly Hispanic man who does maintenance at a school and competes in arm wrestling tournaments. He said he avoids the news because he does not want to be “brainwashed.” He grew up in Chicago, is single and an alumni of Phi Beta Kappa. He is very physically active, having participated in high school football, track and weightlifting. Of arm-wrestling he said, “I could talk about it all day.”

E-13: A young white woman who goes to college and works two jobs, one of them as a surgical assistant. She heard the shooting was a “racial thing.” She said she could be a fair juror “just because I don’t really know that much.” She is single, has lived in Seminole County for 17 years and attends church. She also owns and rides horses.

E-28: A middle-aged white woman who has worked as a nurse for 26 years. She knew little about the case and has no opinion about Zimmerman’s guilt. She has lived in Seminole County since 1985, and has been married for 28 years; her husband is a teacher. She has two adult children: 27 and 23.

Your story is very very plausible. I especially like the part about why Diamond didn’t go the funeral.

There is also the part about Martin’s mother mouthing “ She’s lying”at some point in Diamond’s testimony. Don’t remember what she was saying at the time.

The crucial part to this is WHY he got out of the car and the mixed stories about why he got out of the car.

If the jury thinks he provoked the confrontation because he lied about why he got out of the car then GZ has a problem.

I have no doubt in my mind that St Skittles or as Sharpton put it Skillets...was playing Gangsta.

Not really.
I can call you a stupid witch.
If you then try to run over me with your car, I can shoot you and kill you, even if I started the fight.

.
That’s a fact, and especially if you center the pistol, or hold it in two hands.

Shooting the M-60 machine gun on target from the prone position was almost impossible for me in the USAF security police, because I had no choice but to try to sight it with my weak eye, seeing as the way the hot brass flies out makes it impossible to shoot lefty (I shoot a rifle left-handed because of a lazy right eye, pistol right-handed).

"Bernie knows better — he did that on purpose"

To throw trial into mistrial, or give Zimmerman a good case for appeal?

I have to think it is purposeful, too. It is so elemental not to release SSNs.

My 50 year old bro is afraid of spiders...and feathers.

I can't understand the spiders but I can understand the feathers because we used to beat him gently with feather pillows.

Sorry I passed those genes down to you. We always have to figure out which hand to use for what.

Gets tiresome in the early years, right? But once you get it down, you are good to go.

Do you remember how awkward phone booths used to be?

Defense can bring of the gangsta-thug life stuff if prosecution tries to depict Martin as good kid.

Unlikely the jury knows much, they were chosen because of their ignorance.

Here’s my latest article on the case, hot off the press:

We aren’t talking name calling.

Look up the definition of Assault in Florida.

And just imagine how this could play in a Jury member’s mind knowing that you can’t claim self defense if you provoke the confrontation.

Of course, that theory could be negated in a case that goes up the ladder...but not a good thing to be imprisoned while you wait..because GZ would probably end up dead in prison.

That is a most remarkable jury.

Most of them would have been excused in the jury selection processes that I have gone through.

He tried. The state dropped four white women in a row and the defense challenged it and two of the four were reinstated.
