Oh, Go Ahead, Destroy Marco Rubio (GOP Elites Can't Figure Out He's Destroying Himself)
The Daily Caller ^ | 6:46 AM 07/02/2013 | Mickey Kaus

As Allahpundit forcefully points out, Rubio’s whole mission for the Gang of 8 was to anaesthetize the Right with charm and concern.

That wasn’t enough, so he also lied. He lied about the border security provisions in his bill, then declared he was going to fight to add the provisions he’d said were there all along, then when he lost those fights he supported the bill anyway.

He delivered a final heartfelt plea for understanding–and lied there too (denying, for example that “a future Congress can just defund all the security measures,” which it can).

Having started a giant intraparty immigration fight, the Republican money men and well-fed consultants–the Roves and Barbours and Kochs– are now worried that their champion might get bruised. The New York Times sumarrizes

Their message: if we ever want to take back the White House, we have to stop devouring our own.

That echoes messages I’ve gotten throughout the immigration fight, saying ‘It’s OK to oppose amnesty, but there’s no need to destroy Marco Rubio.’

Hmm. Some look at Rubio as he is and say, “why should this destroy him?” But others ask, ’why not’?

Rubio’s currently making forceful conservative statements on all these topics–he has to, to make up for his immigration apostasy. Once the immigration fight is over, though, they can take their turns as compromisable-issue-of-the-year.

He never struck me as being a true believer. For some, “conservative” means chasing after a crazed Democrat trying to get him to slow down.

In the end, they wind up in the same place as the Democrat, but 15 minutes late and complaining about the cost.

And in the end, the Democrat gets 80% of what he wanted this time around, with “bipartisan” cover, and the rest next year.

“Conservatives” like this always find themselves dragged around by Democrats. They are happy, because they slowed the rate of increase, they took out some of the worst features of a bad bill... the Dems are happy because they now have the precedent and the structure and a budget and once a program is in place it is eternal.

“Conservatives” like this are Discount Democrats and they are the reason we are where we are. They don’t have any real principles so they spend their time reaching across aisles, looking for consensus, looking for the middle of the Democrat’s road, looking for a crowd to blend into and pretend to lead, and looking to hit the iceberg at 8 knots instead of 10.

” Where is Rubio anyway? Vacationing in Medico with some people smugglers? “

He is probably vacationing with big business, and big bankers. He has done a great job for them, and will be very well paid for it. Same with Ryan.

I think this originated during MarcoPhone's (water break) rebuttal speech, but it's appropriate, now.

‘It’s OK to oppose amnesty, but there’s no need to destroy Marco Rubio.’

Yes this is true; why bother to destroy Rubio when he doing such a fine job on his own.

Rubio had the chance to be a principled leader of a new and better Republican Party but he decided to take a short cut to leadership by riding his popularity with the Conservative base of the Republican party to gain a place in the present Republican leadership ranks.

But in doing so he had to sell out the Conservative base and back a bill that betrays the principles of Conservatism and destroys the relationship he had fostered with the Conservative base.

Like a jilted lover once that trust is betrayed it is never the same again. You can rebuild trust to a point but that first blush of true love is never again the same. Rubio can never again be what he was to those in the Republican Base, a hope for a better party.

Rubio is a traitor.

He lied. Again. Again. And again.

He betrayed those who worked for him and donated to his Senate Campaign.

Rubio will never be elected President or Vice President.

Never. Ever.

Re: “POLL - RUBIO SUPPORT AMONG LATINOS SAME AS ROMNEY”

Here's another rarely reported story.....

Massachusetts just held a special Senate election to fill the seat vacated by Secretary of State John Kerry.

The center-left Republican candidate, Gabriel Gomez, was a Hispanic man who avidly supported the Gang of Eight Amnesty.

The Democrat candidate was Ed Markey, a hard left Caucasian.

So what happened?

The largest Spanish language newspaper in the state endorsed the Democrat candidate, Ed Markey!

Only about 5 or 6 bigs here in Florida stephenjohnbanker.
Big sugar
Big citrus
Big cattle
Banking and
Tourism and keeping freaking manatees alive.
All but Banking depend on cheap labor.
And Rubio seems to be in the pockets of each

Well I hope little Marco can cobble together enough hispanic votes to make up for the lost conservative votes in his next senate election. I wouldn’t count on it.

” All but Banking depend on cheap labor.”

Except for the trillions big banks will make off weak borrowers....

” Big banks will make huge money money lending to newly legal slobs, with no credit. 21%-28% APR,

You can’t make money lending to solid middle class borrowers with good incomes,, and 750 credit scores.
You make all the money off the illiterate slobs, and their 10’s of millions of relatives who will be allowed to come here too!

Actually, I believe that the GOP elites responsible for all this should gather, party down and congratulate themselves.

With just this one blow, they’ve accomplished so much:

>They’ve got their very own portable wind-up real-life Hispanic who they can dress up now and then to demonstrate their wisdom and compassion, and maybe even get a few votes from the suckers on the side.

>They’re a couple of weeks and a few gross lies away from forever establishing themselves as the Permanent-Minority-but-Loyal Opposition Party. (Maybe they can even be relabeled as the PLOP to complete their transformation.)

>Last, and most important, they’re finally rid of those damned embarrassing Conservatives.

(I’d tell ‘em How-Sorry-I-Am-About-That before I hit the door, but I’m shamed to admit that I really should have done this many times over the past 30 years and never pulled the trigger. Besides, insincerity sucks.)

If amnesty passes, the Republican party is D E A D.

They know it’s true, but they will be well paid for their treason.
