Anti-Muslim attacks and insults have risen steadily in France in recent years as some politicians and media increasingly present Islam as a problem for French society, a Muslim rights group said on Wednesday.
Hostility rises when Islam is in the news, for example last year when an Islamist killed seven people or when a politician accused Muslim children of stealing classmates' snacks, the Committee against Islamophobia in France (CCIF) said.
The CCIF welcomed a European Parliament decision on Tuesday to lift the legal immunity of far-right leader Marine Le Pen so she can be tried on racism charges for comparing Muslims praying in the streets here to the wartime Nazi occupation of France.
The group said in its annual report that anti-Muslim acts rose to 469 last year, after 298 in 2011 and 188 in 2010. The rise reflected trends cited by other recent reports that also noted increasing levels of anti-Semitism and racism in France.
CCIF President Samy Debah said Le Pen and other politicians were making anti-Muslim rhetoric commonplace. France's estimated five million Muslims form the largest Islamic minority in Europe but are poorly represented in politics and business.
"There is a link between the political discourse and the rise of these violent acts and discrimination against the Muslim community," Debah told a news conference. . .

I don’t think there is much of a chance of the Muslim community in France forming a long-term threat to this country’s existence.
I am not fond of Middle Easterners coming in and attacking Westerners,assaulting women or engaging in their own ethnic violence.
Bear in mind,defiling graves or treating schoolchildren poorly because of their origins,does not or should ever constitute self-defence. You don’t defeat Animal behavior by imitating it,you rise above it and come up with creative solutions.
Laws relaxing the ownership and use of firearms would be nice,along with armed security guards around points of interest.That and letting Free speech flow would save that particular society.
The Muslim leaders are stupid for backing racism charges, Marie Le Pen will be slapped on the wrist and that will be it.Attacks on North Africans will be most likely treated the same way, serious criminal offenses will not be treated with any severity.
They like window dressing without understanding that the law isn’t going to do much to protect them,against people who really do wish to harm them.When extremists mobilize,minorities usually find the hard way that all the “protections” they could count on....aren’t worth the paper they are printed on.
They have always shown flashes of it, hope they clean house and show the rest of Europe how it is done.

The primary cause of this taking so long is that it had to become so overwhelmingly manifest as to surpass the ability of the mainstream press to hide things counter to their narrative.
Kind of like the evidence that George Zimmerman was a mousey little mixed race family man who was getting the holy crap beat out of him when he shot much larger thug Trayvon Martin.

To be clear, “anti-Muslim” acts consist of insults and graffiti. Anti-Christian and anti-Jewish acts, on the other hand, consist of beheadings and rape.
Being the biased media, dealing with the paid prevaricators from government and the Muslim Greivance Community, I'd need to see their definition of "anti-Muslim attacks", before giving any credibility to that assertion at all. Then the cases of "anti-Muslim attacks" would have to be reviewed to check the veracity of the reports.
Second, we have the assertion that the "cause" of "anti-Muslim attacks" are the presentation of Islam as a problem by politicians and media. In other words, there is no problem with Islam, if only the politicians and media weren't stirring things up. More reason to crack down of speech and censor the media.
The people themselves are too stupid to see that mass immigration of Muslims is creating a problem, if only it wasn't invented for them by evil right-wing politicians and the media. (The media?? Really.)
This is from the country that people with an immigration background (nothing to do with Muslims) invented the practice of Car-B-Ques, the torching of hundreds of cars.
