I am thinking that with the judicious addition of insecticides and herbicides into the fuel, this here SU 35 would be a marvelous crop duster for the broccoli, potato, and blueberry crops in Aroostook County.
Stand the Russki bird on her tail at about 1500 and fog 2-300 acres at a time. At the same time, when them cheap-ass Canucks in their Russki biplanes come by to steal my customers, I could let'em have it big-time! Border control, baby!

Now, let's talk price!
“BTW, the best airshow aircraft for maneuverability I ever saw was the A10.”
Yep. And while not technically an air superiority fighter, would any other pilot want to engage head-on with one knowing it could do the “Warthog Stomp?” :)
“Vectored thrust at the ass end of the plane.”
Is that what the protrusion is between the engine exhaust nozzles? I guessed that must be, in order to get the lever arm needed to maintain control during flat spins and tail slides.
Observations:
1) Don’t get into a guns only dogfight with this.
2) Aircraft losses due to stalls & spins should be non existent.
3) It looks like the offspring from an affair between an F-15 and an F-18 E/F...on a diet of Slim-Fast.
4) At least the Russians had the decency to add the F-4 smoke trail exhaust from time to time. Makes it easier to spot!
5) As a Red, White & Blue loyal American, it pains me to say this, but that is one good looking aircraft.
??? Search, acquisition & targeting radar? Range, Loiter time, Dash speed? Air to Air refueling? Air to air missile capabilities?
All their radars are good, but their TERs (target engagement radars) are deadly, especially phased arrays.
Ask any US pilot if he'd like to go head-to-head with an S-300 PMU TER..... even the close-in air defense stuff is something best avoided.
It is truly a sight to see one of them truly ‘tail walking’....
The Chinese are coming along nicely, too. As long as we mess around with monstrosities like the F-35, effectively standing still, the Chinese will eventually catch up.
The Russian’s can’t kill what they can’t see. And the SAM radar gets fried before they’re ready to fire.
If they ever fly in our airspace they will not need to get permission for filthy exhast. This should make our air force cringe—lets hope we do not have to face this in combat until we can get some better ships. Think 1941—P-40s vs. Zeros.
Go watch an F-22 fly. It can do all that, more, and has stealth.
We will not be spending money we don’t have on building any significant new ships in your lifetime or mine. That you can count on. Those days are done gone. Now we’ll have to do it by restricting fuel and or food.
Chevron supplied 20 million gallons of fuel for Hitler’s air force. That was fine with the bankers then and it’ll be fine today if you can convince Wall Street to go along with the plan. Wars are fought so that people and businesses can make money. Since the end of WWII we have not fought a war the bankers didn’t want us to.
That was a great little plane. Too bad it came at a time when the market was not looking for what it had to offer. Even now an up-avionics version of that would probably compare well to what is being sold in the low-mid range fighter market.
“I wonder if they can yet?”
After 20+ years of working in the US, China, Japan, France, England, etc, in every aerospace company in the world...they have learned a great deal. Their capitalism has let them enjoy their quest for excellence. They may not be at our level yet, but they will be quick to get there. I’ve work with a number of old Soviets. They are not stupid.
Never meant to imply that they’re stupid, but that they’re DEVIOUS. They flew the MiG-25 on a few select occasions where they knew we’d notice and clock it at an amazing speed. We weren’t supposed to find out that it would only do that in a straight line and for a limited time, after which the engines would be shot. Soooo, naturally, I have doubts as to this plane’s ACTUAL abilities. If they show us a high speed takeoff and some slow aerobatics with no payload, I’m inclined to believe that’s its repertoire.
Your information regarding advancements in their technology is enlightening, but as I recall, the defector, Lt. Belenko’s big complaint about Russian manufacturing was that the great majority of factory workers were drunk on cheap vodka nearly all day every day. It was that smothering hopelessness of living under communism that finally led him to give up on communism and defect to the U.S. via Japan.
>>I apologize for having disappointed you both.
No need for sarcasm. I was just expecting an abnormal takeoff. Yes, it’s an impressive bird. But the takeoff was a standard takeoff for air superiority fighters at an air show. I thought maybe I missed something and was asking if you’d point me at it.
I was expecting something more like this...

Meh....We got the F-35...Ruskies ain’t got squat.
Exactly the type of thinking that will end in disaster.
First of all, I really can't understand how you might have missed it but the view of the Sukhoi35 takeoff is nothing short of spectacular, the maneuver of which I was referring to, never seen before to the extent that there were several comments on the thread noting that what the Sukhoi35 did on takeoff was impossible. The comment was that perhaps the video was enhanced somehow to create the effect I experienced of, as if watching the plane from underneath with the sense that you were falling down, away from the craft. That, to me, was spectacular and to what I was referring to with my comment.
Second of all, I had seen the f-22 takeoff, but one that totally outdoes the one you thought was so cool on the YouTube video you posted.
The video included below shows an f-22 takeoff that totally outdoes the one you mentioned. It takes off and quickly launches itself into the air at a 90 degree angle, its speed accelerating while it continues to go straight up without slowing down, or deviating from its 90 degree trajectory. This particular f-22 takeoff totally outdoes the one you seem to be so excited about. But who knows? I might get the same response I got the first time around.
I didnt see anything on that takeoff that I havent seen thousands of times before. What am I missing.
