It means that Zimmerman had no regard for Martin’s life..which makes no sense, Martin was the one showing NO regard for Zimmerman’s life when he was bashing his head on the damn concrete
Not yet, the question could be for a decision either way, not necessarily guilty. There could be one or two leaning guilty, and 4 not guilty. No way of saying with certainty. Most likely they have already agreed unanimously against 2nd degree, which would demonstrate some compentency on their part.
Judge was definitely smiling. Not good.

No I'm not. If the jury believes self defense then they couldn't find guilty for either one. I never said otherwise. But that's the point. Self defense is a defense to both charges because the elements of manslaughter are a subset of the elements of murder 2.

Why would not the penalties be included in the Jury instructions!

The key is, if no verdict can be reached. No verdict on guilty/not guilty as to both counts means hung.
Disregarding greater count of murder2, going to deliberation on manslaughter, would mean either they all agree not guilty on murder2 or can’t reach a verdict on it.
A verdict means, all six have agreed on something. Either murder2, manslaughter, or not guilty period. Of course you can’t be found guilty on two counts. They’re considered seperately. But of course you can be found not guilty on both counts and that is an aquittal.
In any subsequent retrial I would have to know more about that before commenting...
