Radio personality Tom Joyner has offered Rachel Jeantel, the friend of Trayvon Martin who spoke to him shortly before he died, a full scholarship to any Historically Black College or University she chooses. The website Joyner founded, BlackAmericaWeb.com, confirmed the news. Jeantel spoke to Joyner on his radio show Tuesday morning.
He said to her: "If you want to graduate from high school, and go to an HBCU, even if it’s not in Florida but especially Florida,like Florida Memorial, Edward Waters or FAMU, if you want to do that, I want to help you do that. I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT and I will give you a full ride scholarship to any HBCU you’d like."
Joyner said he was moved by Jeantel's testimony. The funding for the scholarship will come from the Tom Joyner Foundation.
Jeantel reluctantly took the stand to testify for the prosecution in the second-degree murder trial of George Zimmerman. She told the courtroom that she heard Martin say "get off, get off" before the call cut out and Zimmerman shot him. During her testimony, which spanned two days, she was mocked online by people insulting her dress, mannerisms, and intelligence.
Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges on Saturday.

She's more than qualified to be a journalist, since the newspaper articles they write are geared toward those with a grade school education.
Me either, but have you ever looked at the average SAT scores for historically black colleges? It should be embarrassing, but it’s not to them. The majority of those kinds of schools are filled with students that could never get into any other 4-year institution. I’ve seen a lot of historically black schools with SAT *averages* below 400 pts a section. With scores like that you should be retaking middle school classes, not entering college.
This INCENSES me. If someone saw this very developmentally disabled girl on TV and wanted to help her, best find a really well paying yet simple job for her to do, something she could stick with for 30 years. Manning the phones or supplies at a small manual labor firm, construction, plumbing, anything like that. Make her the “sole” one of whatever she is, and pay her a bit more than she is worth, and expect growth from her, and as long as she is trying hard, keep her job secure for a couple years. Help her afford some training classes.
But freaking COLLEGE??
Not everyone and their dog needs to go to college!! She would feel like a failure there, and it would not give her a job anyway! If she is 17 and can’t read, she is NOT MOTIVATED enough to do any kind of study. The guy would be better off throwing his money off the freeway.
It’s insulting to regularly abled students, it’s hurtful to other kids with disabilities (she is clearly at the very least, “learning disabled.”). I have a precious son with an IQ below 90 and he is brilliant compared to her.

Never underestimate a college administrator wanting a “star” to attend their college.
Second, never underestimate professors rationalizing giving passing grades to incompetent students when political correctness is involved.

Think of an underprivileged student of any race, doing as well as he can, with a burning desire to go to college and study hard to become a profession college actually helps with, but he can’t afford all the loans and is working his tush off to get scholarships.
And this girl is forced to testify on TV and expose her utter lack of anything remotely shaped like talent and ability, and SHE gets the full ride???
[sorry, I know two african American boys who are great people who really want to go to college and are trying so hard. One has a brother killed by a gang, and the other has a father with a progressive terrible disease. This star power crap just makes me mad.]
I’m sure that there are many that could put that scholarship to better use.
What a mean thing to do to this poor soul! She is being exploited and isn’t intelligent enough to recognize it. Now, her failure to matriculate will only nosedive her life the more. She is the latest democrips pawn.

I don’t think she has the stuff for any real college, so maybe this radio guy knows a bunch of sub-standard places she can fit in, who knows?
