Fla. shop offers Zimmerman free gun for protection

With the Department of Justice placing a hold on all evidence in the George Zimmerman trial, the neighborhood watch volunteer won’t be getting his gun back yet. But he could be getting a new one instead.

A Volusia County gun shop has offered Zimmerman a free gun following his acquittal in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, according to TV station WKMG Local 6.

Mr. Zimmerman, since you seem to be a very responsible gun owner, I'll be more than happy to give you one of my handguns as well should you need one for your protection.

The only surprise here is it took so long.

I'd'a given him the gun as he exited the courtroom

... and I'd make DAMNED sure every conceivable news agency and outlet was present.

I’d give him one, too.

A much bigger question is the status of his concealed carry permit.

It should have been reinstated at the time of his acquittal, but I suspect the State has found some way to delay this.

The original gun and holster are not particularly, important since they can be replaced for about $400. But, without the permit, the gun is not nearly as useful to him. This issue does not ever seem to come up.

It will cost more than the worth of the original pistol to force the state to disgorge it, but the permit is a whole different item.

Of course, if he ever does get the gun back, I would hope that he auctions it. Might be worth a fortune that way...

If anyone ever needed a gun, it’s him.

FReepers are more informed.

I suspect that the average gun shop owner had to see Holder/Justice's unconstitutional, racist, reprehensible actions after the verdict to actually understand the dynamic, and act accordingly.

With Sharpton’s vigilante groups out on the prowl this weekend, they should offer “protection” to everyone in the Zimmerman family. Then again, once the vigilantes pick up a new big screen and some beer at one of their Walmart raids, they’ll probably go home, plant their @$$ on the sofa and get drunk.

Here is another good question. Will he be flagged when the gun shop runs his background check? I’m will ing to bet a six pack the Justice Department has already taken care of that little detail.

Right after I hit ‘post’, I thought of that.

Slightly off subject, but....... I never heard anything about the ammo used. I expected the MSM to demonize it as “armor piercing”, “cop killer” etc. no matter what it was. Can't imagine them passing up an opportunity to spread some anti gun lies.

A much bigger question is the status of his concealed carry permit.

Ass hats in America just destroyed the corrupt conceal permits and many Americans are now carrying without the government approval.

Good. He really needs it to protect himself. So does the rest of the Zimmerman family.

I read that Zimmerman used Hornaday Critical Defense.

The problem here is that if George ever carries without the permit I am certain he will be stopped, arrested and harassed forever. Also he will lose the ability to have a permit which will impact him for the rest of his life.

He needs to only move with the advice of his attorney.

“I read that Zimmerman used Hornaday Critical Defense.”

Thanks. In my perfect world Hornady would now be using this in adds. “Stopped a drugged up assailant with one shot!”
