Target recently got some pretty unfavorable press coverage after a discrimination lawsuit unveiled a racist "multicultural tips" document handed out at a Yolo County warehouse.
The issue of race and stereotypes is difficult for large, lawsuit-phobic corporations. When they try to deal with it, the results are pretty awkward, it turns out.

40 years ago the Army sent us to week long diversity training when I was transferred to Germany. After the end of week the black guys-white guys were ready to kill each other. A total disaster.

It is more accurate than you might think.
I just finished a 2 year contract with a place that had several kenyan immigrants who were the hardest workewrs in the group. One of them, a good friend of mine, said that black “african americans” were the laziest people he ever met.
He had no idea how Americans put up with that.
The company sent him to “diversity training” for that remark.
Aftwards, I asked him what he learned- he said “to keep my mouth shut”
Similar thing happened to me in the Army in the 1990’s.
We were all sent to sexual harassment training.
The relationship between males and females was horrible for months after the training. No communication whatsoever. Icy.
OK, white folks, remember this the next time somebody calls you a “racist” for being too white.
and they tried so hard by keeping almost all white christian men out of their tv commercials.
Reading this, on top of everything else just makes me realize the amount of resources devoted to race in this country is staggering, and what a negative return on investment we get.
I guess I failed. I suggested to a black woman that I worked with whowas complaining about college costs for her daughter that her daughter might consider a part time job(our son was doing that). She called me a hater and that it would interfere with her darlings’ extracurricular activites(like getting on the homecoming court).
The whole race industry in America has degenerated from a well-meaning bag of horse sh*t to an outright and shameless scam for profit and political power and influence.

Darn, Sarge! This ‘ol’ Sarge’ had his week of “Human Relations” (I kid you not on the title), in 1975. The class could not have been scheduled at a worse time, because, that same year, 75% of the personnel of a squadron on the installation, were Klan members, and arrested as such.
It made for an interesting week, I assure you. Did the planned indoctrination hold? No.
We have a very good friend from Mali who has made very similar remarks.
BTW, to put his remarks into the context of a Kenyan’s perspective, when we lived in Kenya I had several Kenyan friends tell me, “Oh, you mzungus (whites) work SO HARD!” Also, Mrs BN just remarked that Kenyan women usually work about three times as hard as the men. I agree.
A buddy & I were visiting villages on the top of 10,500ft Mt Kadam on the Kenya-Uganda border. Mt Kadam looks like a giant’s castle - very steep sides We were climbing down one of these cliffs, feeling very much like Indiana Jones, clinging to tree roots snaking down a fissure in the bare rock face.
When we paused to catch our breath, we looked down the cliff to see a tribal mother coming up. Bag of miaze on her head. Baby strapped to her back. Leading another child of about 4 years by the hand.
So much for us being macho men!
The same thing happened 40 some years ago when the Marines presented their first “diversity” training. After the first day the entire group was polarized, even those of us who lived together perfectly well in the same barracks. most of us told the instructor to stuff it and went to the company commander to complain. Their message immediately se me off since I had many on one side of the family who had shed blood with the Union army to free their ancestors and the other half of the family had not even immigrated from Europe yet. Evidently these swift and massive complaints were going on Corps wide and much of the “curriculum” was eventually revamped to maintain unit cohesion and morale.

Many European derived people with 1 drop of Asian or Latin background are claiming that they are of that group. Just look at college applications or job applications. Its now a disadvantage to be a Euro-American.
One of my favorite stories from Kenya:
They estimate there are close to 300 monkeys invading the farms at dawn. They eat the village’s maize, potatoes, beans and other crops.
And because women are primarily responsible for the farms, they have borne the brunt of the problem, as they try to guard their crops.
The monkeys grab their breasts, and gesture at us while pointing at their private parts
They say the monkeys are more afraid of young men than women and children, and the bolder ones throw stones and chase the women from their farms.
Nachu’s women have tried wearing their husbands’ clothes in an attempt to trick the monkeys into thinking they are men - but this has failed, they say.
“When we come to chase the monkeys away, we are dressed in trousers and hats, so that we look like men,” resident Lucy Njeri told the BBC News website
“But the monkeys can tell the difference and they don’t run away from us and point at our breasts. They just ignore us and continue to steal the crops.”
In addition to stealing their crops, the monkeys also make sexually explicit gestures at the women, they claim.
“The monkeys grab their breasts, and gesture at us while pointing at their private parts. We are afraid that they will sexually harass us,” said Mrs Njeri.

She (yes, she) said to me and the whole class, “Shut up. In a few years there will be more of us than you. So get used to working for a female or leave now!”.
I got a letter in my personnel file (big F’n deal) and “she” continued to train at my company for many years.
After the Clarence Thomas hearing, our lib Dem company President demanded we all go through sexual harassment training. It was considered one of our core beliefs. When Clinton was elected, the sexual harassment training disappeared.
Hmmm...how about saying that bilingual guys who choose to speak in a language the rest of the team doesn't understand are being bigots and racists against those who only speak English, and that they need to learn to work together - or else find a 'spanish-only' place to work!
