George Zimmerman Juror Says He 'Got Away With Murder'

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

The only minority on the all-female jury that voted to acquit George Zimmerman said today that Zimmerman "got away with murder" for killing Trayvon Martin and feels she owes an apology Martin's parents.

"You can't put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty," said the woman who was identified only as Juror B29 during the trial. "But we had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence."

She said the jury was following Florida law and the evidence, she said, did not prove murder.

The court had sealed the jurors' identities during the trial and still hasn't lifted the order, but Juror B29 edged out of the shadows in an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts. She allowed her face to be shown, but -- concerned for her safety -- used only a first name of Maddy.

The nursing assistant and mother of eight children was selected as a juror five months after she had moved to Seminole County, Fla., from Chicago.

All six of the jurors were women and Maddy, 36, who is Puerto Rican, was the only minority to deliberate in the racially charged case. Zimmerman, 29, was a white Hispanic and Martin, 17, was black....

“As much as we were trying to find this man guilty … they give you a booklet that basically tells you the truth, and the truth is that there was nothing that we could do about it,” she said.

It must be hard, having the truth get in the way with what you wanted to do. They WANTED him to be guilty, but gosh darn it, there was just no evidence!

I weep for what our country has become. But don’t worry, Maddy will get to vote in 2014 & 2016, if she can find a voting booth.

One of “Obama’s people” when you look at it, Zimmerman is a very lucky man, having a moron like that on the jury, could have ended in a hung jury and he would have had to go through this all over again

Part of me wants to salute this juror as well as all the others. That was their job was to deliver a verdict based on the evidence. And that they did. So from a civics 101 perspective - well done.

But then again - to go public with this sort of statement that is only going to inflame the “community” and is more or less counter to the spirit (if not the letter) of the rules governing how juries function - well not so much.

She’s not too rational is she? I think there’s a problem in the ability of jurors to grasp some simple concepts.

MAYBE BECAUSE WE DON’T TEACH CIVICS OR CRITICAL THINKING OR REAL HISTORY anymore.

Sshhhh...sorry I hollered...I’m FED UP!!!!!

Plus I quit a 30 year habit of smoking a month ago and I’m still grumpy:)

I think that if she thinks her interview will garner friends from either side she is sadly mistaken.

Technically I guess she has the legal right to make statements such as these but from a big picture point of view it just adds fuel to the fire.

I guess one has to wonder - are these jurors getting death threats and are they feeling the need to “speak out” in the interest of self preservation? Wouldn’t surprise me if that were indeed the case.

Dittos!

Unlike trayvon, George really dodged a bullet!

BTW, wouldn’t this be slander at this point?

Hunch? She knows he’s not guilty, just wants to be in
with the in crowd now. She IS having it both ways.

That’s exactly the lib mentality isn’t it? They just can’t let go of fantasy no matter what the cost, even if it sent an innocent man away for life. Scary stuff.

I would actually enjoy the prospect of being on a jury... But a blanket refusal to serve is something I don’t really understand

You might have to sit for hours on a hard chair in a dreary, badly-ventilated room, along with dozens of strangers, some of whom inevitably will be coughing, hacking, sneezing etc.

And that's just the preliminary part, where you're waiting to see if you'll actually be called for a voir dire to be potentially seated on a jury. Some people sit there for a long time and never get called.

I'm not saying it's not worth it, nor excusing anyone for evading jury service. Just saying I can understand why many people do try to get out of it.

I’m guessing this lady hung on to her “Guilty” vote until she just got tired of the whole thing and wanted to go home and get caught up on all the TV shows she missed.

Yep -- she believes that he committed murder but doesn't believe that there should have been a trial.

What did she think should have happened -- just throw him in jail for life without a trial.

Once you recognize that the driving emotion behind most Leftwing thought is a neurotic compulsion, this will all make more sense. It was never a rational movement, although some of the scoundrels & demagogues who exploit it, may be rational if unprincipled. (See Compassion Or Compulsion?

Hey, even prosecutor Angela Corey, an officer of the court, dissed the jury and our legal system by calling GZ a "murderer" after the verdict!

And it looks like she's gonna get away with it.

Trayvon killed himself because he was attempting to murder someone for simply looking at him and for walking in the same general direction as him which I did not realize was illegal until liberals informed me.

I like what Ted Nugent says: “neutralized” Trayvon was neutralized. Perfect word because it simply states that Zimmermans only intention was to end the attempt made upon his life. If Trayvon died in the process well then that is Trayvons fault not Zimmermans.

this part blows my mind:

” When asked by Roberts whether the case should have gone to trial, Maddy said, “I don’t think so.”

“I felt like this was a publicity stunt. This whole court service thing to me was publicity,” she said.“

but then she wanted to put him away for second degree murder

The entirety of her comments on this show are an absolute massacre of basic logic. I thought we had a right to a jury of our "peers."

Maybe if Howdy Doody had shot someone......
