How hard is it to go into an ammo biz? One would think new ones would be popping up with the new demand unless the overhead was forbiddingly daunting.

I’ve researched it.

It’ is about $5,000,000 in startup costs to start ONE LINE of ammo. That is just to produce the cartridges. You still have cost for raw materials (primers, powder, brass), labor costs as well as marketing/branding, shipping, licensing, lawyers, and most importantly Insurance costs.

This is assuming that you are going to produce in enough volume to compete at a national level.

Go to Midway USA and buy a press. Then find raw materials as they become available to roll your own ammo. People have been doing this for a decades.

Ammo is all over the place, online. No shortage, just a bit pricey for calibers like 308. But ammo is plentiful.
