“Plus we should rejoice that it is a FIRST that a Pope is from the Americas.”

Not from South America, which is still very third world in many places. And it is not of western heritage and by that I mean countries that derived from Europe, of European heritage, such as Canada, the U.S., Australia. And of course, from Europe. Catholicism grew up in the West, not in China, not in India, not in Latin America, not in Africa, but in Europe and her offshoots. That’s just the way it is. Any other culture does not have the same history, social mores, ways of thinking about Catholicism. My opinion for you to prove to me otherwise.

You forget that the Church is not just only in Europe, but it has gone forth, to the Americas, to Africa, and to other countries as well. You forget that it took Europe to colonize the Americas, both North and South. And even now, though there are still 3rd world conditions in South America, Brazil in a special way, with a country that is not just hosting WYD, but also the World Soccer tournament and the summer olympics, it is making an effort to better itself.

Plus Pope Franics is saying by him being Pope that it is time Catholics that we rediscover the Bible.
