“You forget that the Church is not just only in Europe, but it has gone forth, to the Americas, to Africa, and to other countries as well. You forget that it took Europe to colonize the Americas, both North and South.”
Where to start. How patronizing to tell me I forget that the Church is not only Europe. Obviously the Catholic Church is now throughout the world via evangelization. However, it is, and was, a Western religion, not an African, Indian, Chinese, Latin American religion in origin, as I thought I made clear in my last post to you. I’ll try again. I believe the Pope, the head of the Catholic Church, should not come from a country that is not western in origin.
The Catholic Church’s heritage is in the west and should be led by a western Pope. Anyone from any country can be a Catholic, however, the leader should be from where the religion primarily existed for a couple of thousand years, which is in the Western heritage countries, not third world ones. And I don’t know about others, but I didn’t realize the Bible needed rediscovering.
Why?
Besides this Pope at least, via his parents were Italian so he does have a western heritage.
Maybe you forget that it was God who guided the cardinals to elect Pope Francis who is needed at a time when the Gospel of Jesus not only has to be preached, but lived out?
