My daughter has it together. She has a few friends that she has sleepovers with, that she has known for years. I trust her completely because she is trustworthy because she has a father who loves her but has taught her boundaries. We joke about her not having to “give it up to assholes” because she was neglected by her father like some of her more tragic classmates. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

I think you've proved I do, which is why I'm not a big fan of sleepovers. :-)

That sounds like a talk a father I know had with his daughter, and it worked for her, too — being honest and blunt and couched in concern and CONSISTENT love, support, and teaching about God. They lived in an inner-city neighborhood with rough influences, and she needed that tough honesty — came through it very well.

What’s being lost in the comments is the obvious fact that situations, children’s personalities, and family parenting styles are different. It’s not a one style fits all by any means. Some are horrified by the approach that worked for my friend, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

Thanks for posting the article. It does seem to me that liberals, having insisted that there is no God, no morality, and that sex-education must be taught in elementary school, are now [rightly] concerned and are trying to back-pedal.
