New Matt Damon movie predicts future where the one per cent lives on luxury space colony

Matt Damon’s new sci-fi blockbuster 'Elysium' has received a deluge of criticism that it is pushing a socialist agenda - inspired by the Occupy movement - down moviegoers’ throats.

Set in the year 2154, ‘Elysium’ imagines a world where the wealthy elite have abandoned an overcrowded Earth for a better life aboard a luxury space station.

While Earth is characterized by crime-riddled and poverty-stricken slums, the super-rich live in Elysium, an exclusive gated community in space complete with a cure for all illnesses and robots that enforce strict anti-immigration laws.

The extreme disparity between the haves and have nots in the movie bears strong parallels with the Occupy movement’s fight against social and economic inequality and the vilification of the one per cent.

The Hollywood Reporter has called it a ‘politically charged flight of speculative fiction’, while Newsmax has escribed it as ‘political propaganda’ and 'sci-fi socialism.'

Variety said it is one of the ‘more openly socialist political agendas of any Hollywood movie in memory, beating the drum loudly not just for universal healthcare, but for open borders, unconditional amnesty and the abolition of class distinctions as well.’

The film’s star – and renowned Hollywood liberal - Matt Damon has denied that it has an overtly political message.

'I don’t think it is trying to say anything. It just presents the issue – the distinct difference between the haves and the have nots,’ he told Fox.

The movie’s director Neill Blomkamp has also denied that he wanted to be a political statement and said it is unfortunate that parallels had been drawn with the Occupy movement.

But critics have rubbished their denials.

Full Title: 'Sci-fi socialism': New Matt Damon movie predicts future where the one per cent lives on luxury space colony and earth is just overcrowded slums.... but star insists it's NOT political

They may try to deny it, but they have an agenda with this film, and the low info voters will probably lap it up if the movie is done well enough. There is irony here in a couple things. First, Matt Damon is a 1 percenter himself. Liberal 1 percenters always get a pass, though. Second, the situation in this movie IS the results of socialism. The U.S. was built on capitalism and has thrived. However, in socialist governments, the ruling elite live in luxury while the people toil away things like subpar infastructure, poor healthcare, lack of food, etc. Look at North Korea. Look at Cuba.

The irony (as so well pointed out by Breitbart.com) is that elysium already exists. It is hollywood. Matt Damon and all of his celebutard friends already live in elysium. They might as well be in a floating city above the peons. The idiot sends his kids to private school while attacking others for eschewing the public school system and makes a movie lambasting the 1% while being a 1 % er. And people pay to watch? I hope the movie flops and sends hollywood a message. I can dream.

That’s exactly why I don’t want to see it. It’s not really much sci-fi anyway.

Sounds like a rip-off of an old Star Trek episode.

Psychologists call this projection a defense mechanism in which a person unconsciously rejects his or her own unacceptable attributes by ascribing them to objects or persons in the outside world.

When the left calls people "racists", "intolerant", "anti-poor", etc., what they're really doing is refusing to acknowledge those demons in their own psyches. We live in an age where the asylum inmates accuse the sane of being mad....

If Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Brentwood are the "luxury space station" and the typical Obamaville town in AmeriKKKa is Los Angeles, the movie has already come to pass. The movie we're already working towards is Idiocracy and if you haven't seen it, get it and watch it.

Here's Matt Demon's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel being disrupted by a character named "Guillermo". This was most likely staged, but it's nice to see a celbretard put in their place.

what is so sad about someone like matt damon,(actually all of Hollywood actors), is that they sold their soul to the Christian hating Hollywood producers in exchange for wealth, drugs and sex.
now, they do the producers bidding, making movies they seem to always have at least one anti Christian message.

I suspect this movie will be a fail like all the anti-Bush movies Hollywood slobbered over.

Virtualglobetrotting.com says this is Matt Damon's house. What was that about the 1%, Matt? You allow the homeless to live there, Matt?

The last Matt Damon movie I paid money to see was that unmemorable anti-fracking movie... I walked out... leaving my date to see how it all worked out in La La Land.

If 1% lived in space, it doesn’t make 99% worse off.

99% need to stop blaming others and get to work
