Matt Damon, the star of the movie "Elysium" and its director, Neill Blomkamp, have both vociferously denied that their film is political. Well, perhaps they might want to consult with Jodie Foster who also stars in this movie to get their stories in proper alignment because she expressed a very different opinion.
First let us read the not very convincing denial by Blomkamp of any political motivation as reported by Fox News:
"Elysium doesnt have a message, Blomkamp told Wired Magazine, saying he found it unfortunate that critics were drawing parallels between his movie and the Occupy movement, a phenomenon he says wasnt even a consideration.

I miss the truly GREAT Sci-Fi flicks that didn't overtly push socialism. Movies like "2001" or "Forbidden Planet."

There is nothing controversial about any of this at facevalue but the problem is that we know where they REALLY stand on the political issues.
Elysium isn't a parallel to North Korea where the elites have all the luxury. Instead, the elites in the movie represent the American upper middle class and the Earth residents are the illegal immigrants who "deserve" free everything.

Blomkamp ruined what could have been a great Sci-fi film in District 9, by getting too political with it. Guess that is going to be his MO with his films.

Did she ever lie about being a lesbian? Or was she just discreet rather than dishonest? Even now she’s not really in your face about it as far as I can tell.

The box office will render judgement. If only the CNN/MSNBC crowd goes to see this, it will be a bust.

Also, no political agenda exists in the film 2 Guns which disrespects the CIA, the Navy and law enforcement in general. Then it promotes JC Pennys (pro-gay) and makes fun of immigration control folks, Texas in particular. It has one so-called "immigration control advocate" who is left "praying towards Mecca" by one of the so-called stars of the movie after a "could be a Muslim" comment which was completely out of line. They made sure and put the Texas flag emblem on the immigration control advocates pistol.
Hollywood, you're mocking God to his face with a lot of things you slip into your movies. Brave folks. Keep it up.

“Jody Foster? Next time a watch Silence of the Lambs, I’m rooting for Hannibal.”
I think most people were rooting for Hannibal when they watched it. The same way the people I talked to who watched Law Abiding Citizen: everyone hated Jamie Foxx even though he played the good guy and Gerard Butler’s bad guy character was more appealing and had the right motivation as Foxx’s character lazily didn’t do sh*t to defend against criminals who murdered the family of Butler’s character.
