Christie endorses Lonegan for U.S. Senate

Gov. Chris Christie today delivered a strong endorsement of Republican Steve Lonegan, a former rival, for the U.S. Senate special election in October.

Despite the fiery attacks the two have traded over the years, Christie pledged to help Lonegan on the fundraising circuit, on the stump, and by deploying two of his top surrogates on the campaign trail: Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and interim U.S. Sen. Jeffrey Chiesa (R-N.J.), who is slated to endorse Lonegan on Wednesday.

"We still have too many people across America who have too much government in too much of their lives," Christie told a jam-packed crowd of Republicans assembled in the Hunterdon County GOP headquarters. "Steve will be a clear and powerful voice for putting people back in charge of the government, not government in charge of the people."

And he vowed to campaign again with Lonegan in the 60 days before the special U.S. Senate election, in which Lonegan faces the well-known and well-financed Newark mayor, Cory Booker. "This will not be the only time that Steve Lonegan and I will be together between now and the special election on Oct. 16," Cristie said.

It’s always good to know what not to do.

Thanks, Chrissey!

If the good folks of New Jersey just get out and vote on the October election day im massive numbers for Lonegan........Lonegan has a slim but, decent chance to beat Cory Booker!!! The Lonegan campaign is off to a good start. Just keeping painting that low life Booker with the “Obama” paint brush!!! A Lonegan win over Booker would change the course of history in the USA!!! New Jersey voters you have in your voting hands the means to chage the entire direction of this wonderful country that Obama and Booker are working to destroy!!! Christie sees the handwriting on the wall. Obama is toast, done a lame duck POTUS!!! Christie will work hard for Lonegan....why?.....it’s in his best interest!!!

I guess the MSM will try get Christie to distance himself past Lonegan statements? Or any variation of that. Lonegan is too extreme but Booker isn’t?

If Christie wanted to help Lonegan by sharing his own coattails, he would not have arranged the date of this asinine special election to protect his own interests.

Christie cares about Christie and only Christie. This was evident with his hugging Obama a week b4 the election.

The special election is on a Wednesday in October, a couple of weeks before the general election. There is no historical data to predict what voter turnout will be. None.

Then there's this:

You have more faith in the voters than I do. Booker is going to win in perhaps the biggest landslide in history. New Jersey is an interesting place. They will many times vote for Republican for Governor but not for Senate. Maybe you see something different.....I hope you do!

Thanks SMGFan.
Gov. Chris Christie [endorsed] Republican Steve Lonegan, a former rival, for the U.S. Senate special election in October... and by deploying two of his top surrogates on the campaign trail: Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and interim U.S. Sen. Jeffrey Chiesa (R-N.J.), who is slated to endorse Lonegan on Wednesday... vowed to campaign again with Lonegan in the 60 days before the special U.S. Senate election, in which Lonegan faces the well-known and well-financed Newark mayor, Cory Booker.
FINOs pounce in 3, 2, 1...
