Boyd Marcus, a longtime Republican adviser and strategist in Virginia who has worked for former Gov. James S. Gilmore III and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, threw his support behind Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday.
Mr. Marcus, who will also serve as a consultant to Mr. McAuliffes campaign, said in a statement hes supporting Mr. McAuliffe because he believes the Democrat will work with both parties to advance economic growth.
Virginia needs an experienced businessman who will put the practical needs of our people ahead of political ideology, Mr. Marcus said. Ive never before supported any Democrat, but this election Terry is the clear choice for mainstream conservatives.
Mr. Marcus most recently worked on the campaign of Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who ultimately opted against an independent run for governor after Attorney General Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II took the Republican nomination. Mr. Bolling has not officially given his endorsement in the race but has been much more magnanimous toward Mr. McAuliffe than Mr. Cuccinelli in his public statements.
The endorsement also means the end of the Republican public affairs firm of Marcus & Allen LLC: Mr. Marcuss partner, Ray Allen, says hes buying Mr. Marcus shares of the 20-year-old business, The Associated Press reported.

Just another pimp of the election industry showing his true allegiance ($$$)!
The Dems have something on this turncoat. Remember the pitiful Gen. Petraeus.
What is with all of these TURNCOATS....Most of them are gay and have turned to the EVIL side....is Boyd GAY?? Why else would one go to the dark side.
This Bolling guy in VA is a real sell out, apparently. But then, the Governor of VA hugely raised taxes and committed other big gubmit acts that also crossed HIM off the list. Ken Cuccinelli seems to be “the one” there, but we must watch out for all of them, lest they turn on us later.
BTW, great to see you here, CW.
THE RATS WITHIN... THE ENEMY AGENTS INSIDE THE INNER CIRCLE ARE OUTING THEMSELVES... EXPLAINS A LOT ABOUT GOP VIRGINIA.
Mr. Marcus said. Ive never before supported any Democrat, but this election Terry is the clear choice for mainstream conservatives.
Let’s see. He’s not supporting Cuccinelli because he is a conservative but he is supporting MCAuliffe because he is a conservative.
Yeah right.
Whew! Those corrections were exhausting!
Virginia’s Karl Rove. Does he have a white board?
vsudine
Here is what is going to happen and you can bet on it:
Because Cuccinelli double crossed Bolling and changed the nomination process from primary to convention, Cuccinelli won the nomination for governor ahead of the two term lt. governor whose “turn” it was to run by agreement of everyone, including Cuccinelli. Lots of bad feelings resulted from that. At the convention, an unknown candidate with no chance to win was nominated for lt. governor. Cuccinelli failed to exercise any leadership at the convention as to who should be his running mate and now he is stuck with a guy who makes daily headlines that hurt the ticket. Obenshain, running for attorney general, is a real hope for the future but he may go down with the top of the ticket. Cuccinelli is now showing at 6 points down and I don’t believe he will do any better than that. He will be outspent by about 4 to 1 and they are lying about Cuccinelli in every TV spot, but it works.
What will happen is the Dems sweep the ticket and the Dem Attorney General will refuse to defend the Va Constitution prohibition against homosexual marriage and it will be defaulted just like in California.
You read it here first. Thanks a lot Ken Cuccinelli.
Is not Cantor right in there too? He just needs a few more years to grow a thicker layer of slime like McAwful.
Political Whore!!!
I didn’t know Matalin was a mole, but it makes sense.
I think the Dems will sweep VA in 2013 and maybe 2014 too. The GOP is too disorganized there, and the state is overrurn with popular northern liberals in the DC metro area. Little people in Lynchburg, Radford, or Roanoke just can’t compete there.
Yea, even Ed Rollins proved deceitful in the end.
It's not going to get fixed. And helping to ensure that are Republican voters who refuse to understand that we don't have to dance to the GOP's tune. Just the other day, I mentioned to a friend that I wished I could take back my 2008 vote for John McCain. Her response? "Well, he was the only choice you were given."
I am regularly stunned by the number of supposedly intelligent people who believe to their core that they are duty bound to vote against their claimed beliefs. And that all those other names on the ballot/write in just isn’t there.
I am also stunned that these people can reconcile the founders telling us in their very writings to “Vote on principle assured that your vote is never wasted” and then coming to sites like FR knowing better than the people who created the Constitution and the very country.
Just stunned.
I think quite a few of them are unaware of our founders’ position, but in my case, giving them the information doesn’t make much difference. It’s an ingrained mindset....if someone has an “R” after his name, he’s automatically the good guy.
You say he supports immigration reform and queer marriage? Ignore that. The magical “R” is all that matters.
True. I was more thinking about the Freepers who KNOW what the founders said and WILLFULLY ignore it or pretzel it into the opposite of what it says...while claiming to be strict constitutionalists who revere them.
You know...liars.
Regular people I can ‘understand’. but their still the cause of this. They perpetuate it every election. Sure, no one is perfect. But enough is enough. They ran the biggest liberal to ever wear an R. There is no excuse now for not seeing the GOP for what it is.
