Domino’s employee Bryon Park, 54, had just returned to his vehicle after delivering a pizza to a room in a Days Inn motel in West Melbourne, Fla., about midnight Friday when Fredrick Lorenza Kelly Jr., 32, approached him with a large knife, the Brevard Times reports.
Kelly allegedly threatened to kill Park if he didn’t hand over money. A police official reports Park grabbed a gun he carries in his vehicle and fired once toward Kelly, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, the Times reports.
“Preliminary evidence in the case demonstrates that the intended victim of the robbery acted in self-defense while being robbed by a violent criminal who was armed with a knife,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

And by this selfless act, that Domino’s driver has saved the public around $2 MILLION, the cost of trying, and incarcerating this criminal for 10-20 years. Assuming they caught him before he committed more crimes.
Seriously, what reward would they give a state employee whose cost saving actions saved the taxpayers $2m? This Domino’s driver deserves a big bonus, and a public thank you.

I think any deliver service these days would do well to supply the weapon, ammo, and training. Times aren’t like they used to be.

In other news, a 54 year old man, in Obama’s economy, has a job as a pizza delivery man.
True story: the day that scene was shot, Harrison Ford was suffering from stomach cramps/diarrhea and was really hurting...there had been an elaborately planned sword fight for that part of the movie, but he really didn’t want to rehearse it then.
The gun being pulled out was just an “ad lib”, and the entire crew went along...it worked out so well, they put it in the final cut. :)
