How smart is Ted Cruz?
Washington Post ^ | August 26, 2013 | By Jennifer Rubin

Smarts don’t always equate to common sense. In the case of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), there is an inverse relationship between the two. I’m told by smart lawyers that he has a sharp legal mind, can think on his feet and has remarkable recall for facts, cases and even page numbers of the briefs. But his political judgment has become distorted by ambition.

Interestingly, he no longer is touting the line that Republicans unwilling to join the suicide squad ”own” Obamacare. Perhaps someone told him that among the obnoxious and untrue things he has said, this ranks at the top and will put him crosswise with a majority of those GOP senatorial candidates running in 2014.

A Cruz presidential run into 2016 would be interesting, if not downright amusing. An early rebuke in his young career might be a beneficial dose of cold water — or devastating to a pol who, even among senators, is excessively convinced of his own exceptionalism.

Cruz is not the guy to build the party or a governing majority (which requires moderate Republicans). But he is just the person to build up Ted Cruz. In fact, he is masterful.

‘FWIW - my first posts on FR concerned Obama’s ineligibility.’

How’s that working out for you? Last I saw he was in his fifth year as POTUS. Seems like you are a blithering idiot in the real World

We lost that fight, and now you are kicking Cruz in the balls twice as hard, and you have no idea what his intentions are.
Cruz has not declared he is running.

HWY ARE YOU PLOOGING ON HIM SO HARD?

He must be, He is President. Isn't he?

Perhaps you should march into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and evict him.

Go ahead. We would all love to see you do it. I for one would PAY to see you do it. I only hope you can.

If you are able to do so, I for one would take back all that I said about your buffoonery. Barring that unlikely occurrence I suggest you stop being an idiot full of incorrect and spurious interpretations of our glorious but much ignored Constitution.

You have yet to post any facts (statutes, court cases, etc.) to back up your assumptions that Cruz is eligible.

Go waste your own time, fool!

Of course YOU ARE wasting your time as Obama is President and he has no more claim to Natural Born Citizenship than Cruz does in your mind. Yet, he is President.

Cruz, like Obama, like people born to American Citizens abroad, ALL THE TIME, is a natural born citizen as he never went through a Naturalization Process as the virtue of birth bestowed citizenship upon him.

I do not think he even understands the intentions of the founders.
We all understand the notion of dual allegiance.

Cruz denounced dual citizenship and never coddled it.
Teds a filthy Canadian! /s

For the record they are more conservative than America at the moment.

Your posts are not substantive. I expect better at FR, it’s why I joined.

Perhaps some other time when you’re more coherent, or a different topic? Good night.

The way this matter/issue is being shaken out by people is a lesson in USA politics. I do not see Cruz fulfilling the letter of the Constitution as to being a ‘natural born ‘ citizen on the basis of place of birth, residency as a child, and a father who was for years a compatriot of Castro. However, beyond disagreement with my take just what does one expect of the SC action on the matter? Is the SC to rule that the actual words of the Constitution are not what the Founders intended but what they believe and should have been and stated differently? With the SC composed as IT is today especially with Roberts as CJ I have no faith/trust in their judgements on the actual words of the Constitution. Obama and his enablers including many young people in the 50% of the electorate have certainly stirred the pot of eligibility for POTUSA. Except for Arthur scamming the system in the days of poor communications the Nation and Obama today the people of the USA have always looked for parentage and place of birth being the qualification for POTUSA. I grant the Nation will probably have to take some more looks if a case of a test tube birth but my hope would be that until parentage and place of birth can be established the USA will continue to base and believe in eligibility as in years pre-Obama.

Fact, Obama Is President. Please, prove that he isn’t.

I think we would all thank you profusely.

Since you can’t and he will remain President do something constructive with your pathetic life!
