Smarts don’t always equate to common sense. In the case of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), there is an inverse relationship between the two. I’m told by smart lawyers that he has a sharp legal mind, can think on his feet and has remarkable recall for facts, cases and even page numbers of the briefs. But his political judgment has become distorted by ambition.
Interestingly, he no longer is touting the line that Republicans unwilling to join the suicide squad ”own” Obamacare. Perhaps someone told him that among the obnoxious and untrue things he has said, this ranks at the top and will put him crosswise with a majority of those GOP senatorial candidates running in 2014.
A Cruz presidential run into 2016 would be interesting, if not downright amusing. An early rebuke in his young career might be a beneficial dose of cold water — or devastating to a pol who, even among senators, is excessively convinced of his own exceptionalism.
Cruz is not the guy to build the party or a governing majority (which requires moderate Republicans). But he is just the person to build up Ted Cruz. In fact, he is masterful.

You are saying that he is a citizen at birth and therefore not in need of naturalization - naturalization law is how he became a citizen at birth. Absent the law he wouldn't be a citizen.
And note the law specifies "citizen", not "natural born citizen".
That’s right, He doesn’t need to be naturalized under Canadian law. He was born a Canadian citizen.
He’s a natural born Canadian. He qualifies per our constitution.
According to Black’s Law Dictionary, the ‘collective naturalization’ part of that law would only pertain to those gaining citizenship via a new territory being annexed unto the country.

I’m not debating the NBC definition or his Canadian citizenship, only that he wasn’t a US citizen by birth.
The law says otherwise. Take it up with Congress.
For the past 4.5 years (at least), we have existed under some bizarre kind of illegimate government; probably the greatest hoax in human history, and perhaps the most dangerous.
This problem is not going to self-heal.
Ted Cruz may not be a NBC, but of all the names being floated for 2016, he is more likely than any other to lead us toward a restoration of constitutional government.
I don’t know how Cruz can renounce his Natural born Canadian Citizenship.
I thought that was a permanent condition.
As I understand it, it’s simply a condition of his birth status. Like blue eyes, nine pounds, twenty inches.

But that’s not what the law says! That heading is for different sections that cover citizenship by birth and also by naturalization. The part of the law that covers Cruz makes absolutely no reference to naturalization at all.
It’s always more than passingly strange how liberal pundits chime in to offer Republicans and Conservatives advice and input relating to Republicans and Conservatives.
I’ve always wondered - who is their audience? Do they think that their biased input is going to stay Republicans or Conservatives?
My admiration for Ted Cruz notwithstanding, your statement is a non-sequitur. How can a candidate who may be constitutionally unqualified to run for the office be a leader in the restitution of the constitution?
Note to all Cruz partisans: I cannot not say "Not an NBC." I cannot say, "an NBC." * All I can say is "SCOTUS, the appeals are before you. Get off your duffs and tell us what an NBC is, please."

It’s very simple. He’s a NBC of three countries.
Cuba, Canada and USA.
This is what the founders intended. A president can choose his citizenship as situations warrant. This gives the president a diplomatic advantage over our friends and adversaries.
For example, if Cuba gets a nuke and hits Honduras, we get half the bananas. If BlackBerry sells more phones, we declare it a US corporation. Canadians couldn’t argue with a Canadian president. Big advantage for us.
When all the other proposed "leaders" of both parties are advocating policies that will continue our decline toward a total collapse and a New Dark Age, my statement is not a non-sequitur.

The Chapter specifies who is a National (not a citizen) at birth, and who is a National by collective naturalization.
The Chapter is organized into nine sections:
§ 301 is organized into three subsections, (a), (b), (c). Subsection (a) organized into seven paragraphs:
Mr. Cruz is a US National due to collective naturalization pursuant to § 301(a)(7)
If he runs, I bet he will have already vetted that issue to satisfaction.

The advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages. I think this is what Washington wanted.

The heading of 301, which includes various circumstances by which one is a citizen by birth is the very straightforward, “Nationals and Citizens by Birth”. That is, as you agree, the section that pertains to Cruz.
It is in the latter sections that collective naturalization pertains, such as with territories such as Puerto Rico and Guam.
I had never heard of ‘collective naturalization’ until your original post on it, but pretty clearly that part of the chapter title is intended for the latter sections, not the one addressing “Nationals and Citizens by Birth”.
Jefferson didn't attend the Constitutional Convention himself, but he advised and influenced many who did. Jefferson felt it repugnant to a man's liberty for the State to try to impose upon him just one place of birth.
