Very good article. I didn’t notice in the article reference to the actual congressional debate over the 1790 Naturalization Act that used the “natural born citizen” formula.

I sent that info to Prof Jacobson with the suggestion that watching them actually use Blackstone and English law in the debate lends weight to the parallel between “natural born citizen” and “natural born subject”, the former being an update for a new, non-monarchical government.

The good Prof said he was going to write something on the matter after doing some extensive research a couple of weeks ago. I've been waiting and watching, not knowing what his conclusion would be, and was delighted when this came out today. It's a fine legal treatise, and despite some of the objections on this thread, I thought it was fair minded.

I'm glad you passed on your information, I'm sure he will think about it.
