Assad is an important ally of Iran and therefore enemy of Israel.
-----
I know Obama is a complete screw up and worse, but can we get some original thought in here?
Blow away both sides and make Syria into northeast Israel.
I’m amazed no one at that level has addressed the wild card of the Russian presence in and around Syria. Putin has warned of trouble if we go venturing into this bombing campaign on Syria. Do our “leaders” somehow think the Russians are too fearful of us to retaliate if we eff up and strike one of their assets? Do Putin’s recent actions tell us he has even the slightest respect for Obama? Finally, does Putin strike us as someone who doesn’t back his words?
With all the lip service devoted to “teaching Assad a lesson,” it appears we’re failing to heed the bigger one of the risk of this blowing into a much wider conflict.
This has stink all over it and will not end well.
The Russians don’t want another repeat of Kosovo. They’ll be ready this time.
Fixed it.
Remember George Carlin's definition of "bipartisan".
"A larger-than-usual deception is being carried out."
I’m generally pretty lenient on authorizing military action, but I do have at least some minimum set of questions that need to be answered beforehand:
1) How does acting advance the interests of the United States?
2) What is the definition of victory?
The answers to those questions can be examined and debated for accuracy and agreement, but to seek an authorization to commit an act of war and not to be able to even provide any kind of answer to either is ridiculous.
The Republican Party had the makings of their lucrative Devil's Bargain in the post WWII era, when they began to trade safe, gerrymandered seats for a good seat at the pork table, and the acceptance of minority status ... and NO presence in the bureaucracy.
In fact, having a majority became a burden; got in the way of business as usual. Take a look at the personal and family fortunes of any multi-term Congressman. The Republicans actually represent special interests ... just like the Democrats. A Congressman's job is only peripherally concerned with you. His work is to make sure that Federal Regulations favor his clients. "Bills" contain thousands of clauses and and subtle shadings enabling some to prosper and causing others to fail, all regulated by the bureaucracy. Bills about "Roads and Bridges" will contain a hefty slice of pork for corporate dairy farmers, or paint factories. How, pray tell, do you think this payola got there? Campaign contributions in the $1Million range buy one the breaks. When the gravy train comes in, you can be sure that the Congress person ... and his family ... are in on the deals. Mr. Pelosi. Biden Jr., Bob Dole, etc. ad naus.
We are "represented" by multi-millionaires, to whom our benefit is secondary, except during election time. However, even then the power of the vast wealth involved can make very certain you only know what you need to know to vote for the right person. In a safe Republican district, why that's going to be a Republican, a member of the go-along-toget-along-permanent-minority-and-happy-to serve-and-help-myself-party.
If Republicans had the rank-and-file in mind, they're might be one or two more Republicans in the Federal bureaucracy. There ain't. In fact, even the DC staffs of GOP members often consist of many, many liberal Democrats.
Why might that be? So, everyone knows this. "How to end it?" is the question.
Truly are the Stupid Party
Code Pink is at least consistent in their anti-war beliefs.
And MAKE the DEMOCRATS VOTE FIRST!! Let’s just see how damn many Democrat votes Obama gets first!!!
I’m caving on Republicans.
Oh goodie, an outright lie in the first sentence.
Re: “The two major parties in America agree on virtually nothing”
We have two major parties?
No one has considered that Syria’s Air Defense systems were supplied by Russia, and probably manned by Russians. What will happen when we start killing Russians??
+10000
My Republican congress critter, who has been kissing up to Obama lately and screwed over the Tea Party- sent a tweet around saying she was not going to support any military action in Syria...
I am sort of surprised actually.
LOL!!!
