Sarah Palin's offensive remarks about Syria
CNN ^ | September 4, 2013 | Dean Obeidallah, Special to CNN

Posted on 09/04/2013 2:33:43 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

"Let Allah sort it out."

That is Sarah Palin's succinct argument against U.S. intervention into Syria. And I have to be honest: I'm impressed with Palin on this one. Not with her horribly callous recommendation, made via Facebook late last week, but because she appears to speak some Arabic.

I'm not saying Palin is fluent in the language, but she did use the Arabic word "Allah." She could've simply used the word "God" instead of Allah since it has the identical meaning. (Christian Arabs use the word Allah when speaking of God in Arabic.)

I think deep down she wanted to show off her language skills.

Could Palin know even more Arabic? She did go on to say that both sides fighting in Syria are, "shouting 'Allah Akbar' at each other."

She could've easily translated "Allah Akbar" into English, noting that the combatants were screaming, "God is great." Or as Sen. John McCain remarked Tuesday on Fox News, "Allah Akbar" is no different than an American Christian saying, "Thank God."

But Palin went with the Arabic. Why? Because I think deep down she loves the language. And I bet Palin knows even more Arabic words such as humus, falafel and possibly babaganoush.

So, let's get back to her statement, "Let Allah sort them out."

Now, there is a possibility that Palin believes that Muslims worship a different God than Christians and Jews. If she does, is she's actually saying that we should sit back and revel in watching Muslims slaughter each other? Could that be her barbaric message? Possibly....

Hey.. how many folks right here on FR have said the same?

Doesn’t that make them just as noteworthy, just as bright?

Why do you disregard FReepers? Why do you seek to minimize FReepers?

[I]s she's actually saying that we should sit back and revel in watching Muslims slaughter each other?

The least bad alternative. When your enemies are fighting each other, you step back and let them.

We have no national interest; why should we get in the middle of this fight? Either Iran's allies will win it, or Al Qaeda's allies will.

If we must get involved, let's organize an international posse and flood the country with gas masks. At most.

If so, she's right. I'm sick of listening to Imam this, or Imam that, saying it's fine to kill non-Muslims, or occasionally other Muslims, for this or that trumped up Koranic excuse. The very fact that they are engaged in these barbaric activities makes me want to help none of them.

Alan Grayson has said pretty much the same thing. I wonder if his remarks are also offensive?

What’s offensive is the current POTUS doesn’t mind displaying to the world that he’s ignorant of our form of government.

Nasty Pali "comedian" .... notice the disclaimer, "they use comedy to both entertain and dispel negative stereotypes of Arab-Americans and Muslims"?

Jihadi agitprop guy pretends to be comedian. Pushing 2,000,000 Juuuuuwwwwzz into the sea and butchering their children on live Al Jazeera feeds should be an Arab laff riot. Bwaaaa haaa haaa.

They lose track easily of who the bad guys are. Sarah Palin has not launched a single chemical weapons attack this whole year. She is not participating in wholesale slaughter in Iraq, in Egypt, in Libya etc etc etc etc. But because she’s apparently taken the reasonable approach of saying that since we don’t know which side is right, and since there’s a strong possibility that neither side is, that we should not choose a side.

Pretty hilarious that the author is attempting to dispel negative stereotypes by perpetuating one.
