Why millennials won't turn "conservative"
Renew America ^ | 15Sept13 | Selwyn Duke

Every so often the wonks of wishful thinking give us an article about how blacks are becoming Republicans, how Hispanics are supposedly a natural GOP constituency, or, as is the subject here today, how the millennial generation is turning "conservative." Perhaps pundits asserting the last thing recall Winston Churchill's observation, "If you're not a liberal at 20, you have no heart; if you're not a conservative at 40, you have no brain." And perhaps they overlook that it's possible to raise a brainless generation.

Don't think, as one might, that this will be a typical analysis sneering at the proverbial "next generation" using the perceived gold standard of one's own. After all, I realize that my generation is the tree the millennial nut fell from. Placing matters in further perspective, it's true that older and younger generations ever slam each other; it's also true that they both are always partially right. Lastly, I'll say that I don't at all consider the WWII FDR voters the "greatest generation," though it makes for a nice narrative. The greatest generation was the one that founded our nation and wondered if we could "keep" its republic, and there has been a consistent, but accelerating, degeneration ever since. In discussing our latest movement toward idiocracy, my starting point will be a Sept. 4 American Thinker article written by one Chriss Street. In making his case for millennial hope, Mr. Street points out that while 61 percent of millennials voted for Barack Obama in 2012, his approval among them has now sunk to 46 percent. But this is a deceptive statistic. For an approval rating amounts to the judging of a candidate relative to people's ideal personal standard for the presidency, whereas in an election he is judged relative to another specific candidate for the presidency.

That is why I see a surge in the tea party movement.

Young, hip people would never catch themselves dead advocating for a stiff like Romney or Dole. they just aren’t “cool”.

Somebody like Ted Cruz or Rand Paul would be acceptable because they are “rebels”.

That is depth of the calculation made.

Actually, before the Bushs took over, conservative did imply small government. But then these North Eastern liberals attached the word to themselves, hollowed out the meaning and poured a new meaning into the shell. Now the Bushs define Conservative. So much so that a fellow North East Liberal, Romney, can unabashedly call himself severely Conservative.

It’s just that a lot of people haven’t figured out that a Bait and Switch has taken place. But that never lasts forever. Pretty soon the word Conservative will start to stink. Then the progressives will have to go find another word to ruin.

reality bites.

They do not want reality.

It is really simple for them

FREE STUFF vs. no free stuff.

they want the free stuff.

they don’t care about the payments, they don’t want to think.

all they hear is “blah blah blah blah FREE STUFF blah blah blah blah.”

Millennials are far too decadent to ever be conservative. They have embraced the epicurean life style. Licentious sexual behavior including a tolerance for almost all perversions, widespread use of drugs, very limited child bearing, endless expectation of entitlements, neo pagan earth worship rather than traditional religion does not lead to a conservative political viewpoint or a prosperous future. There is a reason Obama was elected twice.

Well said. And don't forget the clincher:
"Vote for me, and I will get you someone else's money."
(What do the conservatives have to offer-That those with the money get to keep more of it.)-Tom

They’ve been Pavlov-trained by their teachers to equate Conservatism with bullying. I don’t suspect that they will ever go there.

Yeah, well, there voting patterns don’t show it, since they vote for demagogues like Obamugabe. I guess they’re what you call “theoretical libertarians.”

Well, it depends on what you mean by “condemn.” We have an obligation to judge behavior. As the Bible says, “I have made you a watchtower over the people of Israel. If you do not warn a wicked man of his wicked ways, you will be condemned also.” The only way in which we’re called to refrain from judging is in predicting a person’s final destination.

To be frank, it sounds like your daughter has gotten caught up in modernism. For one thing, our relationship with Jesus isn’t merely “personal” because He is the embodiment of absolute truth, which is, of course, absolute. In other words, we’re dealing with objective reality here, not just subjective.

Not exactly. That’s PART of the issue, but race and sex are significant factors too. For instance, Romney might have carried the white youth vote by a hair (and I’m not even sure about that) but the margins weren’t even close to what they were with their white elders. And blacks of every age group are much more likely to vote left than their white age-mates.

So, yes, the issue is demographics, but in it’s totality — not just age.

We have had 50 years of brainwashing in our public schools. They are taught that CAPITALISM is inherently unfair and evil. All their woes are supposed to be fixed by controlling business and bleeding them of their profits. Rush has talked about it and I have heard it said elsewhere - the next big target is to pass laws denying any "profit" on health care providers. So the medical profession will truly become slaves - how do you think that is going to end?

The RATS have a good thing going here (for them, not us) in that everyone will have to depend on UNCLE OBAMA sooner than later

Racial identity-—not religious affiliation, age, or economic status seems to be the biggest factor in determining voting behavior....when you consider that BHO won about 95% of the black vote, and about 75% of the Hispanic and Asian vote, while Romney won about 60% of the white vote. If you could somehow factor out gays, Jews, and union members from the white vote, Romney won about 75% of the white vote. Tell me your race, and I’ll tell you how you vote. Voting seems to be mostly along racial lines these days.

One remedy is to tell them that they will NOT inherit your money if they don't get with the program. How many parents I know double-couponed it through life so their ingrate, liberal computer geeks could have it easier and leave college with no debt. In return, they trash their parents values and are still around for the hand-outs into their thirties.

Set up a trust to skip a generation. Ergo, you don't get squat...you already got yours. If you want to see it again, have a kid who will inherit it. Maybe a child treating them as they treated their parents will be a wake-up call. In the meantime, cutting off the gravy will be noticed.

“These are the dead brined moronic followers...”

Is that “dead brained” or “dead brined”?

Either fits.

Exactly the problem. They’ve had it drilled into their heads that to judge ANYONE for ANYTHING makes you unfair, a bigot, and a bully. And you can’t embrace Conservatism if you are going to be so totally unmoored from your values.

32 y/o nephew raised as a Catholic in an intact family, 35 y/o wife raised in the Assembly of God, both are college grads, married, two young boys, good jobs, both are well paid professional home owners and now both profess that religion is oppressive because it doesn’t support gay marriage, free birth control and abortion, voted for O’Bama twice because he is working to make America more fair for everyone. Trying to talk sense to them is like talking to a wall. Unlike many boomers this generation is not growing into conservatism, in fact I think they are becoming more liberal as they age.

If you do not warn a wicked man of his wicked ways, you will be condemned also.” The only way in which we’re called to refrain from judging is in predicting a person’s final destination.

That is absolutely false. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 5:9-13:

(9) I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people — (10) not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. (11) But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

(12) What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? (13) God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked person from among you."

As believers, we have an obligation to judge other believers so we may hold each other accountable. We are not to judge unbelievers. That is left to God. There is a significant difference between warning a wicked man and judging him. As I said, my daughter does witness to others.

To be frank, it sounds like your daughter has gotten caught up in modernism.

You couldn't be more wrong.
