WATCH: Father Forcefully Ejected From Town Hall Forum for Asking Common Core Question
Fox News Insider ^ | Sep 21 2013 | FNC

A father in Towson, Maryland, was forcefully ejected from a local town hall forum for asking the wrong question. Robert Small had concerns over the Common Core education initiative, feeling that it was dumbing down the curriculum in his local school district.

"My question is, how does lowering America's educational standards prepare kids for community college?" asked Small, before soon being approached by a security guard — who was also an off-duty cop — and being dragged away from his seat.

The outspoken father then implored the crowd to take action. "Don't stand for this," said Small. "You're sitting here like cowards. You have questions!" Apparently, Small didn't follow the proper protocol of submitting his question in writing ahead of the meeting, which is why he was taken outside, and eventually arrested. Small now faces jail time for the incident, or a fine of up to $2,500. Watch the outrageous footage above.

His did push his point pretty far, but assault on a police officer? I could only see the back of his shirt, but it said security, not police.

I would have stood up and said they should let him speak, likely I would have been taken to jail with him. I did speak up one night at a school board meeting when the board refused to let a lady speak because she was not on the agenda. They told her after they adjourned the meeting she could speak and then they started leaving as soon as they adjourned. I told them in a loud voice that they needed to hear what the lady had to say and they sat back down and listened.

You see, if you submit your question in writing in advance, they never have to answer your embarrassing questions.....

It would be nice if he had a little help fighting these jackbooted thugs.....in court.....

The security was an off duty police officer from what I understand. I don’t think that charge will hold up, if an officer is off duty is it still assault on a police officer? Maybe a freeper who knows will answer that question.

Unless it happened outside the room. I didn’t see an assault. It will be interesting to see how the arrest holds up. I would say the worse they could come up with is trespassing, since he was asked to leave. The district is asking for more troubles than this is worth, pressing any charges.

the list of subjects he could have talked about without being ejected:

protecting a womans right to choose

advocating for higher taxes

outlawing the phrase illegal alien

outlawing the word citizen

supporting same sex marriage

I think the guys problem was his inability to speak on varied subjects

Local cops moonlight as security for school board meetings. The cost is not on the police budget that way. The selection of off duty cops is for maximum retrobution. In a local community, the cops when back on duty will sit at your house, pull over your spouse and children, take your dog from your yard, and in one case I know of, arrest you for drunk driving while you are on your own couch watching TV in your living room.

One of mine I removed in 5th grade is now in law school. A tier one law school at that. So all the threats from the government run school and the insults from my relatives are pretty well muted these days.

Aside from this fiasco what is the general opinion of Common Core by conservatives?

Common Core is the brainchild of the Bill Gates Foundation, and it has all the qualities of that creepy little fascist.

20 year private school (recently retired) teacher. CC is a key to the doors of schools. With this key a group of people gain access to what is taught, and how it is taught. Content is controlled by the curriculum guides, and the subsequent tests that must be taken. The darker purpose, as it relates to the social studies & literature, is to 1)remove the notion of “classic” 2) to substitute modern Progressive texts 3) fashion lessons that move students toward social action. Who is the group getting ahold of this key? William Ayers put his weatherman bombs away to pursue a PhD and career with just this in mind. And of course there are legions just like him all putting this into place.

Police forces today are not citizen oriented. They are primarily oriented to a totalitarian part of government with above ordinary workers pay. When I see police and fireman and other public law officials having like large/huge parades for service persons killed in action I might be argued into changing my mind.
