Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, were the official witnesses of a same-sex marriage between two women in Maine over the weekend, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
The former first couple witnessed the private ceremony on Saturday in Kennebunk between Bonnie Clement and Helen Thorgalsen, according to Jim McGrath, a Bush spokesman.
Clement posted a photograph on her Facebook page of President Bush signing a piece of paper as the couple, close friends of the Bushes, watched and held champagne glasses.
The couple owns H.B. Provisions, a general store in Kennebunk, Maine. The former president owns a compound in Kennebunkport, about four miles (six km) east of Kennebunk.
Maine is one of 13 states that allows gay marriage.

I've had his number ever since 'kinder & gentler'.
Before then I had no idea how much the GOPe hated conservatives.

37 states do not allow gay marriage. That should be the focus. Unfortunately, 50 states allow abortion. Ugh! Get rid of abortion in 13 states too!

They’ve always been that way.
If you weren’t politically aware at the time, it’s hard to describe just how terrible Bush had to have been, in order for him to destroy the goodwill from the Reagan Revolution in four short years. Bush was elected as Reagan’s heir, and rejected as not-Reagan’s-heir.

Hmm. I thought the Bushs were good Episcopalians? Let's just say they are exemplary Episcopalians.

George Sr was a globalist but if he wants to be at an old friends wedding, let him...its still a free country....
are we conservatives believing that people have the right to come and go as they please or do we need to follow people around making sure they only do what we want them to do....
I disliked and distrusted George Sr from the gitgo, but over this, I could care less..

If he wanted to be at his friends’ civil service, I would have had no issue. Putting his weight behind the abomination of Marriage, is a bit much.

I'm old enough that my first election was 1984. It was a great thing to pull the lever for Ronald Wilson Reagan. The year 1988 was different, was for a different GOP person besides Bush Senior, I thought he was weak and had no balls. His first term in office pretty well confirmed this and his added thing of increasing taxes, a way that he insulted Ronald Reagan. I know Bush Jr was much better but we still got stuck with Obama afterward. When I worked at my old company, good when I started in 1998 such as no dress code and didn't care about your personal views outside and promoted the conservative view. But from 1998 until 2008 which included changing divisions, things changed for the worse especially when I went to the East Coast division. With the East Coast division, they were particular not only on your views but even the things you participated in outside of work and political views.
The East Coast supported the following items
- support and vote for the liberal political positions
- pay strict attention to dress and your position - know your place and better stay in it !
LOL, I show up on Friday in blue jeans and sandals and I got called into mgt's office and told that I better be wearing formal dress slacks and that applied even on Friday/weekends. It was a short day since I worked long hours earlier in the week - had to be in early due to things the folks on East needed/wanted but had to work on things expected in Colorado including their hours as well.
Payback was on Friday, I left like 11 am or 12 noon - flex time. Had the hours in, finished early on Friday and leave and go play. The Eastern folks didn't like us leaving early and they go out of their way to schedule late Fri afternoon meetings, of course I refused to go and told the eastern folks they should stay away from Fri afternoon meetings. They didn't like that and instead, done more late Fri afternoon meetings and b*tched at us that we had to attend them. Of course, it got blown off by folks like me.
Since I didn't play their game, I was given orders to move to the East Coast or be kicked out the door ! Of course, no money offered for the relocation even though I was required to sell my home ! Of course I still didn't play their game and in the end, got fired !

On George HW Bush being connected, another reason why I didn’t care for hi much at all. IMHO, Reagan should have picked a different VP instead, someone more from the right wing instead of the melodramatic and damaging liberal wing. For future elections, the GOP should not go with these weaklings and instead, get someone with balls. Romney was the worst pick for the GOP ticket ! I would like Patrick Buchanan or Ron Paul or his son to run !

Have you been paying attention to the episcopalian dogma for the past 20 years or so? It made me a reformed episcopalian.
